Umbridge High School Building, Saturday Evening

There were some clouds hanging around the spires of Umbridge High School, but not enough; there was an overlaying sense that there shouldn't be as much sunlight shining down on it as there was.

It was quiet. Kind of. There was tension in the air, a wound-up strung-up thing that ensnared the school. Somehow it seemed as if even the birds didn't want to touch down on the building itself, and the gates seemed to fold into themselves, even if they weren't quite shut.

And all that on a weekend, too.

At the base of a wall there was a trembling and a crash followed by blur of giant green figure as it punched it's way onto the school grounds.

"HULK SMASH!"

That of course was pretty obvious.

As obvious as the gaping hole left behind him that anyone could use for escape.

The Hulk was followed out of Detention and across the grounds by a blonde with a gun who was quickly covering any potential ambush points by loyalists.

And for any Madri that were trying to get in their way, well, a few of them died messily and in pain, until the feel of the unfamiliar firearm became second nature. The rest would have the honor of reintroducing Hunter Dojima's talent at headshots while moving.

April was completely taking that opportunity, thank you. Raising her eyebrows at the Hulk in a gesture meant to convey thanks, she ducked through the hole and -- at her normal, unhurried pace -- headed for her apartment.

It was a good thing she'd never gotten that Venus Fly Trap she wanted. It would so be dead by now.

Something much smaller, less green, and less loud was hurled out of the hole not long after.

Tim rolled with the impact and came back up in a crouch, ignoring the pain. He fired blast after blast back into the room.

Scent of Heather followed after him, striding purposefully an inch or two above the ground. The blasts of his sword bounced harmlessly off her shield.

With a wave of her hand, she caused the sword to fly from his, then she fired a fireball at him.

Tim summoned the sword back to his hand, and swatted the fireball away. He wished he knew enough about baseball to make a witty comment.

That was fine. She kept advancing, next using her powers to set fire to the ground around him.

Start with their feet yes? she thought. As an afterthought, she put up a shield around Tim, to minimize the damage to the property (Leda's insistence) and to prevent Tim's escape.

Tim's first instinct was to leap out of the flames. But he hit an invisible obstruction, and fell back right into the thick of them.

Screaming, Tim slashed at the shield with his sword, cutting a hole in it and diving out, his clothes still aflame.

Stop drop and roll!

Taking advantage of his distraction, Leda blasted him with an even more powerful fireball, throwing him into a nearby tree.

She grinned at the sickening crunch as he hit.

At least the fire was out?

"Yep." he grunted, struggling to his feet. "Yep that was my arm. And, I think a rib. Or two."

Scent of Heather was upon him in an instant, her nails raking across his face, her foot lashing out at his knee.

Tim managed to dodge the clumsy kick, and was actually kind of glad she had closed.

Swordy, swordy, pokey slashy time now.

He went at her with everything he had.

Florida quickly took control, dodging frantically every thrust and swipe. She hissed when the blade bit into her arm, then she seized the blade to push it away, and sank her teeth into Tim's wrist.

He screamed, and wrenched the sword out of her grip. He tackled the girl to the ground blade at her throat.

Scent of Heather grabbed his throat with one hand, and his head with the other. Waves of destructive magical energy flowed through him, reducing his body to a smoldering cinder.

She grinned. That felt good.

Stark had been hanging back. In part because even though he was fairly certain Kitty and the others were real, he wasn't convinced they were really getting out. And in part because he wanted to stay as far from the green man as possible.

But now he just wanted to be outside, even if the very idea of outside was almost overwhelming at this point.
