Detention, Depths of the Castle, Thursday

Another beautiful day had begun in Fandom, not that anyone in detention would have noticed. The lack of sunlight, the pleasant sound of Umbridge's voice, and the slightly stale smell of breakfast were all important aspects to making every day in detention routine! Surely everyone knew that surprises were no fun.

Look, the week was half over already and no one had been taken out and killed so far. That had to count for something, right?

Hanna quickly hid her "cellphone" from view. "This is none of your business."

She eyed the other girl suspiciously. "Unless you've been sending the messages..."

She'd accused so many people of being 'A' over the year she'd been in here. Why not one more?

"Oh yes," Elphaba said, eyes almost wild with momentary amusement. "I've been sending you messages with the power of my mind."

Hanna frowned. "Why does it seem like everyone around here had mind powers...have you been reading mine?!"

"I didn't," Elphaba said, shaking her head. "Your phone is dead just like my magic. Just like all of us, really."

"We must be in hell then," Hanna said, sighing. "I don't see any angels."

Just demons keeping them all trapped here.

"There's no such thing," Elphaba said. "Hell or angels. It's only this, where we're left to rot like corpses."

"Sounds like hell to me," Hanna replied, gazing at her imaginary phone again. "What message are you gonna send next?"

She still believed Elphaba was A. That wouldn't last, though. This would be forgotten soon enough when she accused someone else.

"This dungeon makes you look fat?" Elphaba said, bitterly. It wasn't really out of true malice, more just... slight madness.

"You don't seem very sure of that," Hanna said suspiciously. "Is that some kind of code? Did you just send one of the spies a message?"

Seemed that madness was going around.
