Detention, Depths of the Castle, Thursday

Another beautiful day had begun in Fandom, not that anyone in detention would have noticed. The lack of sunlight, the pleasant sound of Umbridge's voice, and the slightly stale smell of breakfast were all important aspects to making every day in detention routine! Surely everyone knew that surprises were no fun.

Look, the week was half over already and no one had been taken out and killed so far. That had to count for something, right?

"Well, then you shouldn't have been bloody playing with her to start with, should you have?" Jack asked wildly, and glanced to the rest of the group. "I don't suppose anyone here has forgotten to tell us they're a doctor."

"She would not obey!" Raven protested feebly. "She had to learn to obey!"

She lifted her head, voice becoming more steady as she looked at Jack. "And so do you."

Jack snorted despite the sting of tears at his eyes. "There's one person in the world I obey at all -- and he isn't a psychotic killer bitch. Do your worst, sweetheart. Give us all more of a reason to shred you to bits."

He was talking wildly, without really listening to himself -- but he absolutely meant it.

Raven cackled madly, fed by the crush of emotions around her yet wanting to escape it all as well. Fear, fear would drive them back.

She lifted her hand. "I am not the only killer here," she said, trying to worm her way into his mind. She could feel the hidden fear of becoming a beast, a wolf, out of control and hunting, claws and fangs tearing into the flesh of someone screaming No, Jack, no! She pulled it forth, trying to make it seem real in his mind.

"I never --" Jack said, and then the vision overtook him. He stared at his hands, not understanding how he felt the pain of their transformation so clearly when he could see they were the same pink slabs as always.

He shut his eyes tightly. "No. This isn't real. You aren't real."

"I will make it real!" Raven hissed, pushing harder. "Leave me be or I will trap you in your nightmare forever, like I did to her."

Which wasn't precisely the truth, but if it got people away from her so she could get out of there, she'd let them believe it.

Jack stepped back a fraction. He could see Emma coming in in a fury, and his fellow prisoners were pressing against Raven as well. He had no desire to be the second dead person in detention today if Raven lost control.

And besides, he needed to cry.

"One day you'll get what you deserve," he said, with the last of his energy. "And the rest of us will laugh."

"Hunter, not a doctor," Dojima said, looking over at Bobby. "But I can tell you we don't need a doctor. Not for her, anyway."
