Nadia didn't have any classes on Friday, and thus would generally be sleeping now, but she hadn't actually slept at all last night after her afternoon nap, so she hits the cafeteria for lunch.

The "Pheelly Cheese-a Steek" looks interesting, so she grabs that and some cheeps and finds a table. She's reading over some messy notes in her notebook as she eats.

Walter comes in, loads up, looks around, and takes a seat across from Nadia.

"I heard the announcement. Glitter is really just a start, yes?"

Nadia is slightly startled, having been pretty absorbed in her notes, but nods. "I'm thinking it'll have to be. If nothing else, I might as well earn my detentions."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 07:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Nodding, Walter takes a big bite of his pheelly cheese-a steek and waits until his mouth isn't full before commenting, "I do not mind the threat of detention as long as I have earned it. I think we will need to make sure you get your money's worth out of being stuck all day tomorrow."

Nadia shrugged. "At least it's with a teacher I know. It could be worse."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 08:33 pm (UTC)(link)
"Good attitude. Did you have a chance to pick up the supplies yet? What do I owe you if you did?"

[personal profile] nadiathesaint 2006-02-10 08:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Nadia nodded. "I got a gallon of glitter and a bucket. It was about 27 dollars. Do we need anything else?"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 08:50 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter took a big bite of his sandwich before fishing out his wallet and handing over a ten and a five.

"I'm thinking there are a couple of things that would make the bucket a more permanent fixture in the principal's office and also keep us from getting in more trouble for dumping a bucket on his head that results in concussion, stitches, or being fed to locker 327. I can pick them up later today. I'm on my own tonight and for the weekend anyway."

Nadia frowned, not certain what Walter was referring to. "You mean Alfred is--Oh!" She shakes her head at her own cluelessness. "You mean Victor. Where's he going?"

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 09:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter shook his head. "Back to Xavier's - the school for mutants he attended before coming here. It is supposed to be for the weekend, but he is not certain if that will be true or not."

He looked down at his hands with their nine rings instead of ten and shook his head again. "He will be back," he said with more certainty than he felt.

Nadia had a blankish look on her face that came from the inside of her brain battling itself as to whether to rejoice, feel heartrending guilt, or just be sympathetic to her friend.

Thankfully, since she is, basically, a nice person, the third combatant wins.

"Of course he will. You've got nothing to worry about."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 09:23 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter was a bit preoccupied to notice the blankish look. He had to be preoccupied to bring up Victor with Nadia, since the boyfriend was a bit of a conversational landmine.

He stuck a putetu cheeps (which looked suspiciously like a crisp) into his mouth and crunched before sticking his worry for Victor away in the back of his head to niggle quietly at him.

"Thanks."

Time for a non-emo subject change. "I haven't seen our third party to pin down when to prepare the glitter gift for Dewey. Knowing him, he'll be joining us for lunch at some point. If we miss him, I'll just bring him cigarettes and alcohol later."

[personal profile] nadiathesaint 2006-02-10 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Nadia raises an eyebrow at how carefully Walter isn't identifying this "third party". "Should we have code names? Maybe work incognative?"

English isn't her first language. She's pretty sure that wasn't the right word.

"Incog-something, anyway."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 09:38 pm (UTC)(link)
"Incognito," he supplies and shivers for some meta reason (http://crimsonsguns.tripod.com/icon12c.jpg).

"No. I just do not want any suspicious bushes catching his name and getting him in trouble until I know he is signed on for trouble. After that, all is fair."
nadiathesaint: (Default)

[personal profile] nadiathesaint 2006-02-10 09:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Nadia looks vaguely disappointed for less meta-reasons, but shrugs. "Okay." She's not quite sure what Walter means by "suspicious bushes" because she's totally oblivious when it comes to the radio, but figures he probably has his mysterious, Walter-ish reasons. She repeats "incognito" softly to herself a few times to fix it in her memory. "Are you working at Cafe Fina tomorrow night? It'd be nice to have some good food after spending the day in detention."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yes. Every Saturday and Sunday. If I know you're coming, I can have the chef make something special for you. You know friends always get better treatment."
nadiathesaint: (Default)

[personal profile] nadiathesaint 2006-02-10 10:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Nadia grinned and promised herself that she would do whatever she had to do to prevent herself from even humming or whistling when she went. "You should stop by Empire this weekend, too. I'll see about getting Lucas to make you a button, or something." Nadia raised her eyebrows. "And maybe show you some of the less obnoxious modern music to supplement Cole Porter."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 10:10 pm (UTC)(link)
Walter laughed at that. "That sounds like a deal. Music and food are always good choices. No Pink Floyd, though. I have already explored that genre as far as I want to go."
nadiathesaint: (Default)

[personal profile] nadiathesaint 2006-02-10 10:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Nadia laughed. "No Pink Floyd, I promise. You might like Iron & Wine or the Shins, though."

[identity profile] walter-n-wires.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 10:18 pm (UTC)(link)
"Somehow I have a feeling those will be nothing like Vera Lynn, but I am sure you can find me something I will like."

[identity profile] alchemic-bean.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 06:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Edward's never actually heard of Pheelly Cheese-a Steeks, but as they seem to be comprised of mostly meat and cheese, they seem safe enough. He takes a sandwich and some chips and finds a seat.

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 07:31 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey, Elric," says Anders through a mouthful of sandwich as he sits down.

[identity profile] alchemic-bean.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 07:58 pm (UTC)(link)
"Hey," Edward says in reply, poking at his sandwich. With the fork. "Hey, maybe you know. What the hell's a "Pheelly?"" He eyes his sandwich. "It's not some sort of weird animal, right?"

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 09:00 pm (UTC)(link)
"I got no clue, man, but it doesn't taste too bad." Anders shrugs. "And it's got steak in the name, so I'm guessing it's, you know, steak."

He takes another bite, chewing carefully. "Well, it doesn't taste like anything too weird, but that might not be saying much. Y'know, your brother makes a pretty decent spaghetti." Because that was a logical progression of thought.

[identity profile] alchemic-bean.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 09:26 pm (UTC)(link)
Edward did not point out that because the food had 'steak' in its name did not mean it was entirely composed of beef product. He instead actually took a bite of the sandwich, decided it was good and dug into it.

"Mph, Al's always been a good cook," Edward said, his mouth full. "He figured if he didn't feed me I'd probably end up starving in the library, I guess."

[identity profile] cantgetnorelief.livejournal.com 2006-02-10 09:31 pm (UTC)(link)
Thankfully, Anders remained blissfully ignorant (which happened to him a lot) of the . . . potentially flexible nature of the word "steak," though it's entirely up in the air as to how much that knowledge would have impacted the way he was practically inhaling the sandwich anyway.

"Yeah. He wasn't too sure how well it'd come out, but I kind of demolished a plate and a half of it, so I think it was pretty good." Anders looked a little bit perturbed. "I should really learn to cook sometime. I feel behind the curve or something."
