Library, Sunday 07/01

Raven was finding it hard to concentrate on her library duties that morning since she was preoccupied with the showcase that afternoon instead. She tried to work on both, moving through the stacks and tidying up the shelves while singing her song under her breath. The books at least were fairly quiet today, though all the books by Canadian authors had migrated to one corner of the library for a party.

Somehow, Raven wasn't surprised.

"I intend to visit as often as I can, and I will try to convince her to come with me," Raven said. It was her last few weeks before she had to leave, after all, and she missed seeing her friends.

"Did she tell you of her boyfriend, Warren? The world he is from is similar to yours, but very different in other ways as I understand it. I believe it is the Headmaster Logan from that world she speaks of." She laughed a little and shook her head. "It gets confusing sometimes with the versions of people from other worlds, I know. Sometimes more than one of them shows up at once for Parents Weekend."

"She mentioned him," Evan agreed, nodding a little bit more. "And we figured out pretty much right away that her Warren isn't the same as Angel from my last school. He's way younger, for one."

It kind of made him wonder if there were other versions of himself running around out there, too. And if they were just as confused about who they were supposed to be as he was.

"I think it would be a bit to take in, seeing two or three of the same person just standing in the same room, though."

"I would have to agree," Raven said, glad she'd never run into that situation. "It is confusing to see more than one of the same person, or to meet another version of yourself. I have yet to encounter another Raven here" -- not a lie, since the possible future evil Raven she'd fought had been elsewhere -- "but I am told by people who know other mes that in at least one world, I am a hero and a member of a group that calls itself the Titans."

She had no idea if that would ever be her fate, but given all the darkness she'd seen in so many of her futures, she clung to that as evidence there was always hope.

"You're going to get me all hopeful," Evan noted, looking more than a touch wistful, "that someone is going to recognize me as a hero from somewhere, now."

It... wasn't going to happen, sweetie.

"Anything is possible in Fandom," Raven said, more optimistic than the narrative. "But you have only just arrived. You should be more focused on settling in and starting your new classes and making friends, all of which I hope will go well for you."

"I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see how classes are going to go," Evan noted, "but the making friends part is already going way better than it did at my last school. So... hopefully I can keep up that good streak?"

"I am very glad for that," Raven said. "It took me some time to make friends here" -- but that had been in large part because she hadn't been able to open herself to friendship at first -- "but the ones I have made are like family to me now. And I am happy to count you among them. I enjoy making new friends."

So long as he didn't turn out to be some sort of Apocalypse in sheep's clothing, but she still wasn't sensing any malice from him.

Oh, Uncle Cluster was going to hear all about this island and how nice people were here in comparison to his last school.

"I'd be surprised if I met someone who didn't," Evan decided. "But I'm glad to have met you."
