Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

There were plenty of large umbrellas set up for those who didn't enjoy a good pelting of various summer related materials. Because some people are weird like that.

There was also a splendid selection of food and beverages under a canopy to keep from ingesting suntan lotion. See? Your faculty thought of everything. Except how to make the island behave.

That you'll have to deal with.

"Stannis Baratheon, of the House Baratheon, in Storm's End," he said with a sniff nod of greeting. "I suppose I could add Westeros, but I've come to discover that means little in these lands."

"I have heard of Westeros," Loki said brightly. "From the books Lord Tyrion has loaned me on your gods."

"The old gods or the new?" asked Stannis, and if you listened really, really carefully, there might have been a bit of dry humor in there, but it disappeared, buried under a scoff. "Lord Tyrion. I...do not think I know who you speak of."

There was something about the name that left just the faintest tickle of recognition in the back of Stannis's mind, and he frowned deeply as he tried to mentally scratch it away.

"Both. Your seven are quite interesting. I would like to speak to them some day." Yes. Really. "Tyrion? He is a teacher here. Lannister, if I recall correctly."

And he did.

"Tyrion," Stannis repeated again, frowning, "Lannister?"

Now that name he certainly did recognize, and, suddenly, he was equipped to scratch that niggling feeling of recognition. Once he got it, he stared at Loki in shock.

"They say he's a monster." Oh, Westeros gossip. "They say he tore his mother apart and murdered her when he was born, and that he is bound to grow up a deformed little demon monkey."

Not only that, but he was only about six years old. "How in the Seven Hells could he be here teaching?" Stannis asked, mostly to himself. He shook his head. "No, it must be...a different Tyrion Lannister."

Because there were a lot of those running around and everything.

Loki's mouth turned down for a moment before he recovered, shooing Ikol away. "I do not think it could be the same. I hold Lord Tyrion in high respect for his knowledge."
