Grissom is definitely smirking.

"No lecture today. Instead, I am going to assign you a partner, and give each team a unique assignment.

Today in class, you should chat with your partner and discuss how you are going to develop your presentation on the topic I am going to give to you. Each team will present on Tuesday.

Now, as you may remember, we have been discussing marriage and its role in our society. Most cultures have a ceremony of some kind, to officially begin such a union. Generally, that's called a wedding. However, different societies have much different ways of conducting weddings, and I think it would be very useful for everyone to see some of these differences first hand.

So..." oh, the smirking. "You are your partner will each be assigned a type of wedding. I will give you each a packet with the information you will need. And then, on Tuesday you will act out the ceremony for all of us with your partner.

I'm vetoing any part of anything that has to do with swords. Me, the Renisance and swords are a bad combination.

Anything else (that doesn't lead to Lana kicking my ass) is cool.

Paige nodded, "yeah good point, but erm what do thing of doing the handfasting? And most importantly who's going to be the bride?"

"Handfasting is fine. Though I'd like to state up front that if you think I'm doing it skyclad, we're going to have to have that mead discussion first." He smiles, but there's something in his eyes that says he's damn serious.

"And if you think I'm opening up the hornets nest of picking one of you over the other, forget it." He leans back on the desk, arms folded, cocky grin firmly in place. "You two can just fight over me." He doesn't say 'it's good to be the king' out loud.

Phoebe laughs. "Hey Shep, marry both of us. It'll be a different presentation than the norm, which Grissom knew or he wouldn't have teamed the three of us together."

So now we're back to three way, he thinks. "Um... sure. I'm easy. Okay, perhaps that wasn't the best thing to say under the circumstances." But seriously, what guy is gonna turn down the chance to look like the class stud?

"Who's gonna do the ceremony then?"

Phoebe giggles. "I'm sure we can get Lana or Kiki to help... if they can keep from giggling."

Paige giggles too, "okay so you're marrying sisters, you have no idea what you're letting yourself in for do you Shep?" she asks.

Best. Class. Ever!

Shep looks back and forth, his eyes going wide, somehow this fact had managed to slip past him until now.

"Damn... this really puts a dampener on the whole 'first I kiss one of you then the other... then get the two of you to kiss each other' thing!"

Paige stares at him for a moment, "yeah that's never. gonna. happen!"

Shep mutters, "Suddenly this two girls at once thing is not *nearly* as much fun as it was a few minutes ago."

"Yes," Shep says abruptly, "Because that conversation will go well. "Lana, dear, I know you can't take Sex Cultures because you'd burst a blood vessel somewhere important from blushing, but would you mind coming by next week to marry me to two other girls?"

he gives Phoebe a "GUH?!" look.

"Shep, if you tell her it's me, she'll be amused. She knows where my heart is."

"I'm more worried about her knowing where my heart is. And aiming for it with a sharp impliment!"

Ahh, so that's it.

"Shep... Lana and I talked a lot abut you this past weekend."

"Oh, do tell," and he was prepared to get physical if she didn't. She brought it up, she damn well better be willing to spill.

It would never occur to her to tease Shep about something like this.

"Lana really cares about you, Shep. She lights up when she says your name."

Shep just rolls his eyes up and shakes his head back and forth in embarassment. The thought both pleases and terrifies him. He still has this idea in the back of his head that she expects more of him than he's capable of giving.

"Can we recharge an iPod on her wattage?" he jokes to cover up his insecurity.

Han picks that moment to lean over and whisper, "Hey, Shep buddy, can I marry your girlfriend?"

Paige isn't laughing, she's really not, she's also not trying to say "oh please do it, please!"

"Phoebe, honey, I wouldn't marry a girl that ugly. Even I got SOME standards."

Phoebe giggles and kisses his cheek. "I've seen your standards, they are very high, so hush. I'd have to hurt you for going that low."

Paige is looking a little upset about now, "but for a guy he's cute!" she protests

"Sure, what the fuck. I'm apparently marrying sisters." Shep looks much more bewildered about this whole thing now. The 'sisters' thing has kind of put a crimp in a lot of his plans.

"Pretty common back home. Thanks."
