Library [5/19]

It took a lot to keep Cassidy from showing up to a shift at the library.

Fortunately, finding herself suddenly turned into a pony was not on the list of things that would stop her.

She managed to use Craft to do something with all of the hair she had with the mane and tail and then headed out to the library. Rather than getting overly upset about the lack of opposable thumbs today to open doors with, she used Craft to pass herself through the walls.

Once in the library, she did her best to sort out which books went where and then floated them to their positions.

Sometimes, it was a good thing she was such a cheerful person all of the time. She knew she would be teling Karla about this and sending her photos because she thought she made a cute pony. She wondered how much begging she would need to do to keep Karla from showing Morton, though...

The library is open and the Cassidy Pony will do her best to help you!

Because it was certainly allowed.

Because not even this would keep her from being cheerful and as helpful as she could.

"Cassidy?" Oh, Odin preserve him. Loki did not do well as an equine.

Cassidy looked up at her name and then managed to make the pony face smile.

"Loki?"

"Why are we all ponies? What foul magic has befallen the island?" WAS HE GOING TO GET KNOCKED UP TO DISTRACT A RANDOM GUY FROM BUILDING A WALL? DAMN IT, NORSE MYTHS.

"I don't know why we are or what happened," she admitted. "I know that it's happened before to people and it wears off in a day or two." She sighed, the sound a huff. "I am not amused by the Island's since of humor sometimes."

He looked around, as if expecting something to jump out at him. "Are there others in the library?"

Cassidy shook her head. "The Librarian may be in his office, but I haven't seen him and so far, after me, you're the only one that has come in."

"Then I shall hide here until this is over." Away from any male ponies. JUST IN CASE.

"That sounds like a wise idea, and you know I always like your company."

She looked at him and then looked at the door, then at him again.

"Loki, is someone hassling you?"

That thought caused her to draw herself up straight, but because she was a pony she ended up raring up on her back legs while her front ones pawed the air a bit.

"Hells fire," she muttered when she was on all fours again. "I want my own body back."

"Oh! Oh, not at the moment no. There are simply--portions of my elder-self's past that I car not to repeat in regards to being a horse."

Pony.

She nodded, parts of her mane falling over her eyes, causing her to shake her head and then finally use Craft to hold it back from her face.

"Well no one will try anything with you in here."

Darkness help anyone that tried to come in here and mess with her friend. She may be a pony, but she still had her Craft. They might very well wind up with singed tails.

"Which is why you are a most excellent friend!"

She grinned. "I try to be."

If he's around.

The Librarian certainly was around and he was, unlike most people on the island, still bipedal. That was the nice thing about one firmly in place magical enchantment; other magical enchantments usually gave him a miss. So he was cleaning his nest in his office a little and giving the pony in the library a harsh look and a grunt whenever he could.

Ponies didn't belong in libraries.

They made too much noise with their hooves.

When Cassidy heard him grunt again and looked up to see the look he was giving her, she shook her head.

"I'm Cassidy," she tried to explain. "I'm one of your aides."

If she knew her hooves were bothering him, she could easily put an aural shield around them.

As a transformed human himself, the Librarian was a little more open to thinking that perhaps others might be transformed, too, but, as far as he was concerned, a pony was such a silly thing to transform into that he narrowed his eyes critically at this supposed aide and scratched his head a little.

"Ook?" he asked, once he decided that it definitely was the nice, quiet fellow redhead, in equine form.

Because, seriously, Cassidy....Ook?

Cassidy nodded. "It's me, I promise. The Island is transforming people again."

Then to show him that it really was her, she used her power to float a stack of books where it belonged.

Which caused the Librarian to sigh a little bit, because mixing magic with books could sometimes get a little hairy...him being a good example of that, ahem...but moving books was harmless and he just shook his head.

"Ook ook ook?" he asked, wondering if the island did stuff like this often. He also patted himself to make sure he was definitely still okay, relieved that his magic transformation was apparently still stronger.

"The Island apparently has a strange sense of humor sometimes. From what I've read and seen, it does tend to do things like this at least once or twice a year."

"Ook," said the Librarian, who shook his head in disapproval.

Now, if everyone turned into orang-utans, that would make sense to him. But ponies? Really? Ponies?

Cassidy did her best to shrug. It was hard to do.

"I agree with you." She said. "I don't approve, either."

Changing everyone into ponies made no sense to Cassidy, either.

It's quite possible that it took me far too damn long to both make a pony I thought suited Cassidy ... and then figure out how to save it ...
