This was, quite possibly even more entertaining than Dojima ever thought teaching was going to be.

"Ohaiyo!" she sang as the students arrived. "Today we're going to give you some practical exercises in how dating - or wooing - can go very very wrong, Fandom-style."

Romeo shot her a swift, amused smile. "For example," he said, "the gremlins. I've heard tell of brilliant nights, burned to ashes because something with fangs decided to make a plaything of half of a pair -- or of both halves."

"Fandom Lesson Number One," Dojima put in impishly. "Video of the aftermath of a gremlin encounter is worth a LOT on the open market."

"However, taking video of your would-be-beloved in such a state is a good way to guarantee there will be no second date."

"Though after a fourth or fifth date, perhaps, a little blackmail may be overlooked in a loving relationship," Romeo put on. "But to go to the larger point -- the amount of time people here spend out of their mind or not in the right body can strain any relationship."

"Even if that relationship is just one of friendship - But! - friendship is not what you're in this class for. So! We've come up with a few scenarios for you to work with," she supplied cheerfully. "First dates gone so, so, so very wrong. Because around here? It's bound to happen."

"First you cry, then you laugh, then you move on," Romeo said solemnly. "And today … today is for practice. Your pairs are Lucrezia and Frank; Rapunzel and Sholeh; Thomasina and Atton; and George and Shira. And, as we've an odd number, Stacey, Hanna and Sparkle will all work together."

"Well, what would you like to do this morning, Rapunzel?" Sholeh asked, deciding to go with...things. Yes, things. "Umm, are you hungry?"

"Oh, yes!" Rapunzel beamed. "Can we have candy?"

TV was very clear that children ate way too much candy. It was a fact.

"We can have wheat cakes," Sholeh decided. "Wheatcakes with honey on them. That's sweet enough to be like candy, right?"

[OR JUST DON'T POST, LJ, SEE IF I CARE!]

TV was also clear that if children were denied candy, they threw tantrums. Thank you, TV!

"No! Candy!" Rapunzel tried for a spoiled pout, but she wasn't really much of an actress.

[We are all surprised that LJ has failed to work properly.]

"If you're going to act like that, I don't think you observe candy," Shahar said, crossing her arms. "Maybe you need to sleep a little longer and wake up when you're no longer overtired."

~~Rapunzel totally observed candy!~~

"I'm not tired!" Rapunzel declared, lip quivering in a pout that really, really wanted to become a giggle. "Candy!" she added for good measure.

"Spankings!" Sholeh threatened back, in a slightly deeper voice than she usually used. From the way she clapped her hands over her mouth, she hadn't expected to say that, either.

::No taking over my mouth when I'm distracted!:: she said, furiously.

=But it was the right answer!= Zeela retorted.

~~My face observes ALL the candy!~~

"Spankings?" Rapunzel's eyes got wide. "You wouldn't dare! You'd get in big trouble!" That's what five year olds did, right? Make very vague threats about authority figures and stuff?

Well, there was no going back from it now.

"Spankings," Sholeh said, firmly. "Lots of them. And who am I going to get into trouble with? Naughty, demandy little girls get spankings."

"They do?" That was mostly Rapunzel just not knowing. TV did not provide all the answers, apparently!

"They did in my village," Sholeh said with a shrug. "Or, more likely, one of your mothers rapping your knuckles and saying that if you have enough energy to whine, you have enough energy to work."

"Mothers?" Rapunzel probably would have missed a plural on any other word, but Mothers were important!

"You have more than one?"

That actually sounded awesome! Rapunzel's one mother was wonderful, so having more than one should be even more wonderful.

"Errr...." Dammit! She really needed to stop doing that. Mother. Er. Just one!

Too late now for it.

"Yes?"

"Ohmygosh, that's awesome!" Rapunzel practically bounced with excitement.

It didn't occur to her to ask how that was possible. She didn't really have a good feel for what a 'normal' family looked like, anyway.

"I'm totally jealous!"

Zeela snorted inside Sholeh's head. =She wouldn't be if she ever saw Morragen in one of her moods.=

Sholeh was inclined to agree. "It is nice," she said. "But sometimes it just means more people willing to assign you chores and knuckle-raps."

"But that just means you have more chances to spend with them!" More mother time!

"And more chances to get into trouble with them!"

"Oh, I wouldn't get in trouble!" Well, okay... some. But not a lot?
