Some extra tables had been set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. Well, aside from the mariachi band, but at least their music was entertaining? They might even take requests!

"Just because you can't die from your mouth feeling like it's on fire doesn't mean it doesn't feel like you will," Terry said. "I think it's mostly just a sign that I should pay more attention to what I'm eating."

Rapunzel giggled. "That's true. I still remember the first time I had a... hah-la-pino?" Was that the right word?

"Ah, classic mistake," Terry said. "There's actually a technique for eating those safely. You put them down and walk away."
