Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part III

Some extra tables had been set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. Well, aside from the mariachi band, but at least their music was entertaining? They might even take requests!

"Meat on a stick." Darcy redefined and handed a stick over. "Try one."

"You're sure?" Rapunzel was not thinking about the fact that Darcy could always go get more if she wanted.

"But it does look good..." So she reached out and took one, holding it up to examine it critically.

"Nah, I'm just teasing." Darcy said with a grin. "How's it taste?"

"Mmmmmm!" Rapunzel answered, her mouth full of kebab.

"I'll translate that as 'Thank you, it was delicious Darcy, can I have another?'" Darcy handed over another kebab.

Rapunzel giggled. "But if you keep giving them to me, you won't have any left for yourself!"

Notice that this objection did not stop Rapunzel from taking the offered food.

"I think I'll survive." Darcy informed her. "I mean, there's plenty of pop-tarts left."

And she could always get up and get more.

"Pop-tarts aren't the same," Rapunzel objected with a grin. "But," she tried (and mostly failed) to look somber, "I thank you for your sacrifice."

"Pop-tarts are a crucial art of any diet." Darcy said and began to munch on one. "My sacrifice will be sung off through the ages." She said equally somber.

Rapunzel giggled. "I can totally help with the singing part!" she offered.

"Then we've decided on your payment for eating my kebabs." Darcy said with complete seriousness.

"An epic, memorable song that tells everyone that you're the best?" Rapunzel could certainly try.

Darcy nodded. "Uh huh! And how I sacrificed my kebabs for great justice."

"I'll have to see what I can do," Rapunzel promised with a giggle. "I'm not too bad with music?" The benefits of being a Disney princess.

"I expect only the best." Darcy said somberly before falling apart and giggling.

"Should I write a part for you, too?" Rapunzel asked with a smirk.

"Sure!" Darcy said, recovering a bit from her giggling. "It would be an epic...what do you even call this?"

"A song?" There was probably some better word for it, but... maybe that would do?

"Yeah, but it's a story song." Darcy pondered this difficult question. "An epic tale. In verse."

"Oh! Like..." Um... what was it called. "Like one of those poems?"

"Uh huh! One of those!" Darcy nodded. This conversation was becoming amazing. "Like the Homer ones."

"Yes! Exactly!"

Though... Rapunzel grinned. "i don't think I can write you anything quite so... long?"
