Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Some extra tables had been set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. Well, aside from the mariachi band, but at least their music was entertaining? They might even take requests!

"Are you being stalked by the band?" Stacey noticed.

"Wait, you noticed it too? I thought I was just being paranoid," Terry said, sounding a little relieved that it wasn't paranoia. And then looking less relieved when he realized the band may have actually been stalking him.

"I think maybe they just like this area?" Stacey tried.

"I think I'm going ahead and assuming that's it until they prove you wrong," Terry said. "Thanks for helping make my day a little less creepy."

"Glad to help. You're one of the new kids, right?" she guessed.

"What gave me away? The name tag or the fact that you've never seen me here before?" Terry joked. "Terry McGinnis. Just off the bus and everything."

"Mostly the second thing," she admitted. "Stacey McGill. No longer a new kid."

"Is this the first group bumping you up from new kid status, or have you been here a while?" Terry checked.

"I just got here at the spring semester, so you guys mean that I'm officially an oldbie," she explained.

You were not an oldbie, Stacey.

"So that makes it your job to tease people about the weird stuff they're going to see, right?" Terry asked.

"I haven't been teasing, I've been advising," she corrected.

"I'll be honest, I'll probably do a little teasing when I'm an oldbie," Terry said. "But in the meantime, what kind of advice have you been giving out?"

"Get past the weird stuff and this place is great?" she said. "I'm surprised we're not a party high school."

Did they have those?

"Do those exist?" Terry asked. "Wait. Don't answer that. I'm here for the year, so I can't transfer. So I'd rather not know."

"It's okay. There'll be like two dozen parties before then," she assured him.

"Well, that's good to hear. I wasn't really sure how that was going to work out with the whole boarding school thing. It could have been really stuffy and boring, you know?" Terry asked.

"That's what I thought it'd be too," she told him. "But no. And definitely not boring."

"That's what I've heard," Terry said. "I always thought my old school was a little crazy, but it sounds like it doesn't even compare to Fandom."
