Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Some extra tables had been set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. Well, aside from the mariachi band, but at least their music was entertaining? They might even take requests!

"Oh, really?" Atton asked. "Then what do you do?"

"I talk to them and they come to see my point of view," she said.

Seriously, this girl had to either be a Jedi or run with Jedi to have an attitude like that.

"Funny, I haven't heard you try that yet. Actually, I don't even know your full name," Atton said. "Or what part of the galaxy you're from."

"Perhaps that's information I'm not comfortable telling anyone as of yet," she pointed out. "And of course you haven't seen me try it. You barely know me."

"Ohhh, so you leave the staring for people you don't know yet," Atton drawled. "Okay, I'm starting to get a picture of how this works."

"Of course you are. Don't think it's escaped my notice that you've yet to tell me your last name or where you're from, either," Sia said.

"It's Rand, and I'm from Telos, thanks for asking," he said. "See how easy it is?"

Well, sure. It was really easy when your name wasn't actually Rand and you weren't actually from Telos.

...picnic table creaks twice... thrice...

She studied him for a moment, and then said, "It's Fel."

That information would be easy enough to find out now that she was here anyway.

"And now we're almost halfway into an actual conversation," Atton said. "Feels like we deserve a medal or something."

"It's been an actual conversation, just not a typical one," she said.

"Well, maybe for a Jedi, sure," Atton said, making a shot in the dark he was pretty sure that'd be on target.

"I'm not a Jedi," she replied, and raised an eyebrow. "Are you?"

Huh. Could've sworn...

"Do I look like a Jedi?" he retorted. "No. I've just met a couple in my time. Thought you might be one of them."

"And why is that?" she asked.

Atton shrugged. "You've got that whole dour, I-know-what's-best-for-you thing down," he said. "Besides, our bus driver was one of them, and where one Jedi goes..."

Also, he'd been hunting Jedi for a long time. He usually wasn't so far off.

"And because there was a Jedi there, you assume I knew him? Or that it was some sort of coincidence?"

Which, it was, but in a whole other way.

"You and him were doing the whole intense staring thing together this morning," Atton pointed out. "I mean, you can't fault a guy for wondering."

"He was driving a bus in a cape in a place where no one else is wearing them," she pointed out. "I know absolutely no one here."

He might've pushed the issue if... well, if her earlier response about being a Jedi had sounded like more of a lie.

Now, Atton just shrugged. "Hey, I took you at your word," he said. "Time to let it go, all right?"

"Of course," Sia nodded.

And because Anakin had mentioned it earlier... "When are you from, exactly?"

"Why do I have a feeling everyone's going to keep asking me that question?" Atton asked. He rattled off a date that had absolutely nothing to do with Yavin whatsoever ~~but everyone insists on measuring in BBY anyway~~. "And how about you? Or is that restricted knowledge, too?"

Sia relaxed a little. A little. They were from different times, she didn't have to worry nearly as much about tripping some sort of alarm now.

She gave her own date ~~because who really mentions ABY in real life in the GFFA anyway?~~. "Sometimes I can answer questions."

"I feel really privileged now," he assured her. "And huh. Guess the galaxy's going to hold out longer than I thought."

What with all the Jedi and Sith trying to kill each other all the time and doing large amounts of property damage.

"The galaxy likes to make people wonder that sort of thing, I believe."

Considering she was from a time when the Sith ruled the entire galaxy...

They were trying real hard in Atton's time. Did that count?

"Not sure if that's a good thing," he said. "But you have a point."
