Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Some extra tables had been set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. Well, aside from the mariachi band, but at least their music was entertaining? They might even take requests!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is the FIRST post for general mingling. Please use this post first, if your browser can handle the comment load. Roommates, fake siblings and teachers are all here and there's more room for mingling here. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

"It seems... different," George decided. "I mean, compared to other boarding schools I've been in. I'm not sure I've been here long enough to be sure of anything else yet." He was occasionally far too logical.

"I'm George." She seemed to have already figured out the new kid part. He bobbed his head in a sort of bow -- ingrained social habit. "Have you been here long?"

"Mercedes Thompson," she offered. "And I've been here just about exactly a year. It's a good place. Very weird place, but good."

"I'm not too bothered by Weird," George assured her, showing a small smile. "I'm certain this isn't a world I know, but it seems... similar, in some ways, to things I know." There were probably people having more of a freakout right now.

"I can understand that," Mercy said. "Where I come from isn't quite normal either, so I think that made it easier for me to adjust."

Besides, coyotes were adaptable creatures.
