Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part II

Some extra tables had been set up in the shade of the trees on the lawn, away from the buffet in spots where it might be less crowded and much quieter. Well, aside from the mariachi band, but at least their music was entertaining? They might even take requests!

Kenzi had been trying to bribe the mariachi band into following Vice Principal Deadpool and playing "Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap" but apparently they didn't have a collective death-wish. Who knew?

So she was trying to throw taco chips into the brims of their hats.

By now her name tag said, "Grace Winchester."

"That's not your name."

Sure, Kenzi probably already knew that, but Butters wanted to make sure that she knew that he DID NOT APPROVE, and the frown on his face and the disappointed shake of his head should tell her as much.

"Grace isn't using it right now," Kenzi said serenely. "And she won't mind, she's cool like that. How's it hanging, Candy? Get a new little sib or roomie?"

"I'm pretty sure people are always usin' their names," Butters pointed out, "except people goin' around usin' other people's. Is Kenzi even your real name?"

"And, yes," he stated, straightening up importantly, "I did get a new roommate, on account of Sam leavin' to shack up with his girlfriend. His name is Sholeh Zeela a Zhahar, but I haven't met him yet. I bet he' a foreigner."

"There are no other Kenzis," Kenzi said. Without really answering that question. "And it's not like I stole Grace's Social Security Number." That was illegal!

"I'm guessing you're right, but that's also easy 'cause at least half of everyone at this school is," she added, amused. "Sholeh, hmm?" Someone to look out for! "I got a new little sib, George. Drayton. He's actually kind of coping!" Kenzi was so proud!

Butters shook his head. "Poor George," he said sadly. "You think they'd be more careful about who they stuck the newbies with around here."

"You wound me, Candy. Right in the heart," Kenzi said, patting her chest. Look, cleavage! "I gave him cookies!" In the interests of getting her own minion, maybe!

"Did you poison those cookies?"

Kenzi pulled forward the Chips Ahoy bag. "Want to try them and see?" Eat the Crazy Girl cookies, Butters!

"No way, Jose," Butters said with a firm waving of his hands. "I'm not munchin' on any cookies from you, no sirree bob."

Kenzi reached over for her Sharpie; now the nametag said Bobbie Jose.

"More for me, Candy. I suppose if we find George's dead body under a picnic table, I'll be the prime suspect." She gave him a suspicious look. "Unless you had something to do with it."

"I don't even know who George is!" Butters informed her with a slight bit of panic. "And...and...and I'm not the one, runnin' around, trying to be someone else."

....Not at this moment, anyway.

"Oh, Tex." Muahaha. "Tell Marjorie to look out for him, wouldja?"

"'Grace,' hey!" Petra said cheerfully when she saw Kenzi. And then the smile fell off her face and she leaned in to say in a low tone, "Listen, I like you and all but if you mess with my little's head I will end you. I just want us to be clear on that."

Then she took a step back and the smile came back as she asked, "So how's it going so far?"

"Great! My new kid is way more prepared than I was." Kenzi grinned and leaned in too, voice down. "Fair enough, who should I not be messing with?"

"Her name's Fawn," Petra said. "Blonde, really pretty, kind of like having a conversation with a frightened bunny. Yours?"

"Poor kid." Yeah, there was a limit to the messing she did. Rapunzel and Anna didn't get messed with too hard, so this Fawn kid was safe. "George Drayton. Blond kid, looks like he could use some sun, outfits a mish-mash of modern and old. Apparently, he's from some place that knows about other worlds, and magic, so he's not freaking out too hard. He kinda got drafted to be here, but he seems to be dealing pretty well. What's Fawn's story? Time travel, magic's-not-real, what?"

"I think she's from somewhere that's just, you know. Mundane," Petra said. "I don't know, I didn't get that much out of her. She's really shy. She's from the past, but not too far back--cell phones exist but they're rare, and they still use cassettes. So what's that, the eighties? Did they have cell phones in the eighties?"

"I think so?" Kenzi squinted. "That's cassettes, I'm pretty sure. Maybe really early nineties? So, twenty plus years, that's not too terrible. Enough to freak out about if you're shy, though." She looked around. "And that's not including Professor Pie. Or the... guy? With the Jack-in-the-box." Yeah, she wasn't sure what Yakko was, but seeing him put a hat on Professor Lannister had made her snicker.

"Yeah, I don't even know what that is," Petra said. "Is it like a puppy? Or a monkey thing? I don't. Whatever." She waved it off. "I mean, I thought I was high or something at first, and I'm pretty good at rolling with the punches, you know? I'm just scared other people won't break stuff to her as gently." She was at present keeping a hawk's eye out for any pink ponies approaching her little sib.

Kenzi saluted. "No making the newbie cry, gotcha. Hopefully she'll get a girl as a roommate, or that could be bad." She tilted her head. "Nobody with wings or who's green yet. Maybe a floor party will help people out later." She shuddered. "Now I'm being helpful. Stop me."

Petra groaned, smacking her forehead with her palm. "I completely forgot to tell her about the co-ed roommates!"

"Oooooops." Kenzi winced. "Well. Shit. You can leave her a message that she can always trade if she gets a jerk? George got a girl too."

Somehow, that was one part of the island that always threw most people for a loop. Awesome.

"No, I know, I just--I mean, my big sibling completely bailed? I didn't even know he was still here for a semester. So I was so determined to be a good big sister for this girl and then, like, if I had gotten a guy roommate when I got here, and I hadn't known it was co-ed, I would have completely flipped, and I know this girl's not me, but I can't believe I forgot to tell her."

"Please, she's lucky to get you as a Big Sib, and not me. I was using Quinn's name earlier," Kenzi admitted cheerfully. "You're going to do great at this. And if she gets a douche for a roomie, we'll throw him out a window." She paused. "Probably one of the lower ones."
