Multi-Disciplinary Self Defense

Duncan waits for people to sign in before starting. He's not grim, but he is more serious than usual. "Okay, now that we've had the weapons out...let's see how to take the weapons away. Looking for volunteers again, guys."

He has practice knives up front, wooden.

Angel signed in. He gestured to his still healing chest. His movements were clearly not at 100%. "Still want me to stick to watching?"

"That I can do," Angel said.

"Darla," Angel said. "With a sword."

"Sewer fight," Angel said. "Got a little distracted. So my guess is focus."

Ivanova signs in and looks at Duncan with a raised eyebrow. "Do I need a doctor's note?" she asks, a bit lamely, indicating the crutch, sling, and excess of bandages. "I was ambushed by a doctor and her lackey."

Cameron signs in, the sling's gone but he still can't do much with the shoulder at all.

Cameron nodded. "Thank you, sir. I don't think I could do much right now, but I'm willing to do make up work once it gets better."

Jack picks up the knives and looks around for a partner.

Parker shows up to class with the now-healing scratches and bruises, and goes through her warm-up carefully, not wanting to pull anything.

Parker looked away, then shrugged. "There was a, um. Study group. On how to fight... vampires. And it got a little out of hand." She met his eyes. "A lot of what you taught me was really helpful. I wanted to thank you for that."

Parker set her jaw. "We reported a number of vampire attacks to the school administration weeks ago, and didn't see any progress. Finally it got to the point where action had to be taken. Friends of mine were going after them, and I couldn't let them do it without proper back-up." She shrugged, looking a little less defensive. "There were two groups of us. We got fifteen vampires. And no one in my group was seriously hurt."

Somehow, this is worse than Professor Tick's cross-examination. He only wanted to know why they'd done it; Mr. MacLeod wanted to know how, and of all the things she thought about that night, their methods were the ones she had the biggest doubts about.

Swallowing, Parker said, "Darla. She made Angel. She scared the life out of Jack Harkness, then let him go near school. She also grabbed Izzy Stevens on the street, and when Janet and Vala tried to grab her back, Darla stabbed Vala in the gut. Then she grabbed my friend Rory and tied her up, threatened her, then let her go." She paused. "Drusilla. When she was a teacher here, she messed with the students' heads, made them violent, or almost hurt themselves.. in the last couple weeks, she threatened a friend of mine, and grabbed two little kids and drained them nearly to death."

She paused to take a breath.

"Jarod Flanagan. He lives in town, he's a bartender at Caritas." She folded her arms. "He didn't even have being on campus to keep him safe part of the time. Angel went after Drusilla but got hurt." She made a face. "Which is when I told him he couldn't do it by himself, and after Callisto yelled at him, he finally listened. He would have gone after her alone if we hadn't gone with him."

She looked at Mr. MacLeod, gauging his mood. He didn't seem too mad. Yet, anyway.

"Anyway. A lot of other people were furious by then, so ten of us broke up into two teams, and went down into the sewers and over to the hotel where Darla had kept Rory. About a dozen people back here got us supplies and weapons and communications gear."

Parker sighed. "I can't speak for Angel's team. Most of them got hurt. They were facing nine vampires, plus Darla, in the sewers. Logan and Cam aren't martial artists, they're just guys who like to fight. But Angel and Callisto and Alanna had all been in some kind of action before. They managed to kill the nine minions Darla had with her, but she got away."

"Aeryn's team-- the one I was on-- faced only six vamps. And Drusilla." Parker's face formed a snarl.

"After we killed the other vampires...." Parker looked away. "She said things. Threatened us-- she knew how to get to Aeryn, and me, and Skywalker, because she taught here, and she's some kind of psychic freak. We were all furious, we weren't focusing. Anakin wanted to be the one to kill her, and I knew he could do it, so... we left the room." She looked at Duncan. "I was fairly worried he'd kill us on accident if we didn't get out there."

Parker shook her head, hugging herself. "He thought he did. He threw her through a wall. But she got away." She looked up, her expression bleak. "She's still out there, somewhere."

Parker shook her head, rubbing her face. "Not back to the hotel. She could be hiding in the sewers again, I guess. But she was hurt. She couldn't have gotten off the island, I don't think...." She looked up. "We're going to have to do something again. Or she and Darla will just make more vampires, and bring them in, and we'll be right back where we started."

Re: After class -Aikido

[identity profile] mparkerceo.livejournal.com 2006-02-09 09:21 pm (UTC)(link)
Parker lets him put his hand on her shoulder, and slumps a little in relief. "If you can figure out any way to make this easier, I'm all for it." She sighed. "I think Anakin's kind of freaked out anyway. He hasn't said much, but he's been-- grim, this last few days." Reluctantly, she nodded. "And I'll come talk to you first before we do anything." She smiled slightly. "Thanks."
