fandomhigh | Fandom High Welcome Picnic, Front Lawn of the School, All Day: Part I

When the planning for the new semester had started, no one had really noticed that the welcome picnic would coincide with Cinco de Mayo. When the food arrived and all of it, including the desserts, had somehow ended up as a variety of Mexican food, well, it was a little too late to change anything.

Hopefully, the wandering mariachi band that had shown up wouldn't throw anyone either. It was a festive day of new arrivals, after all.

The blue and gold tables and chairs had been set out, along with nametags and the lists of Big and Little Siblings, and rooms and roommates for the new students. Assuming the shuttle arrived with all of the students and teachers in one piece, everything was set for the picnic to begin!

[OCD is up, have at it! This is part one of the picnic, specifically for meeting siblings, roommates, and teachers. The rest of the picnic is happening here and here, in an effort to keep browsers from breaking for as long as possible. Since it's outside, the picnic is open to all students, teachers, and townies!]

Sure, Deadpool was looking for a teaching buddy. But he was also keeping an eye out for anyone from back home.

He had five bucks on Scott showing up as a student this time. C'mon, don't disappoint him, Slim.

"The shuttle guy wasn't kidding about you being here," Victor said, then backed up when he remembered he had never actually met Deadpool. "Sorry. Hi, I'm Victor Mancha. New student."

"...weetiny Ultron?" A beat. "Why don't we have a Hank Pym yet to mock about this? That would make it so much more fun."

"I haven't even met him yet," Victor confessed. "It seems like it'd be a weird kind of family reunion."

Blink. "-- wait, you know who I am?"

"I get bored easily," Deadpool admitted. "And Wikipedia is amazing for that shit."

A beat.

"I guess you make up for no Cyclops showing up as a student. For now."

"I'm on Wikipedia?" Well, there went the theory the team was a little covert. But Victor was going to Google the shit out of it next time he got a chance, anyhow.

"And, uh ... good." He wasn't mentioning Karolina; Majesdanians were probably more exciting than cyborgs. "Do old people show up as students a lot, here?"

"Everything is on there." Just, you know, the one people didn't know existed due to walls. "Oh, one time we got a Jean Grey. Didn't even die once. It was sad."

"What was she like?" Which was stalkery, but sometimes you had to ask.

"Young, perky, had a crush on her clone's kid without realizing it. It's a thing."

"Is it just me," Electroclash wondered, sauntering over while lighting a cigarette (where she kept those in a costume without pockets was a mystery for the ages), "or are we the only two people in uniform, again?"

Tyrion's Westerosi garb didn't count.

"Well, they don't wear uniforms." A beat. "And we don't want to see Nate in his. All those pouches and random hip pads. Who the hell even needs a hip pad? What's he planning to do? Play in a roller derby?"

"Dunno, dive for cover from explosions?"

Hey, it happened. Sometimes. Mostly to Timebomb.

"Pouches, though, those make it sound like he intends to go camping or some shit like that."

"No, just needless time travel."

Electroclash figured all time travel was needless, to be honest. But maybe she was just lazy like that, preferring to stay in the present, no matter how shitty.

Such a complex woman. "Well, I'm still disappointed this wasn't as much of a cape school as advertised."

"Heeey, we have Captain America! That's plenty... capey."

Puff of smoke. "Yeah I still don't know who that is."

Pffft, American superheroes.

"Captain America." Because saying it louder worked.

"I'm not hard of hearing, you idiot," came the immediate reply. With a bonus bitchface, naturally. "I just don't know who that is. Probably doesn't even exist where I'm from."

"You come from a terrible, terrible place that is lacking in patriotism."

SAID THE CANADIAN.

"Now you just sound like Guy when he had an umlaut." Also she wasn't convinced Deadpool was even American, yeah. "I'm English, so sue me."

"Did Guy with and umlaut think Captain America had dreamy blue eyes too?"

"That never came up."

Fancy that. Don't think for a second she wasn't randomly going ask Guy–sans-umlaut that at some point for her own amusement.

"But going by the rampant patriotism, I'm going to say yes."

"Plus, Chris Evans ass."

"I don't know who that is, either." But that was more because she was from around 2008 and didn't keep up with movies in Fandom much. "Is it any good?"

Of course she'd ask that.

Booooo, Sarah. BOOOOO.

"It's not bad. As you know, wearing spandex means you hafta be sexy."
