Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

"It would be a lie to say I'm not looking forward to it," Tahiri said cheerfully. "Shame I forgot to bring a holocam with me."

Wasn't like she could stop into some random shop on her way off Zonama Sekot and just pick one up. Oh well.

"Fine. I think things are starting to settle down enough now that I can spend some time actually learning about the culture, and not just trying to smooth things over every time there's a conflict," Tahiri told her. "Still busy, I take it?"

Jaina nodded slowly. "Gotten ridiculous, in fact," she said. Which was so, so very true. "I probably won't be back for a while."

She was finding it was easy to use that explanation.

Jaina opened her mouth to protest that she'd been worse, but she didn't think she could really compare their post-Myrkr experiences. It basically amounted to Jaina being stupid about things back then.

"I'll make sure to be better about it," she promised.

She was lying, but she didn't know that yet.
