Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

"Vestara Khai," Luke said. "From the lost Tribe of the Sith. I'm keeping an eye on her."

Or holding her hostage. One of those.

Luke nodded. "I've never seen a ceremony like this before."

"They don't have anything like it back--where you guys are from?"

"We have ceremonies for when apprentices become Jedi," Luke said, "but they don't have to wear hats."

"But the hats--you know, I'm not actually sure why people need to wear weird hats and robes for this," Tony said slowly. "...no offense about the robes."

"Our robes aren't that...vibrant...either," Luke replied. "Well, other than Master Horn's but the Corellians have always been a bit odd."

"I'll pretend to know what that is," Tony replied, nodding seriously. And assume they dress like clowns.

"If Ben has ever mentioned some of the more notorious exploits of his Uncle Han," Luke offered, "remember that he's Corellian. They're all kind of insane. In a good way, but insane."

Tony snorted at that. "Is this were I get embarrassing stories about Ben? Because he's already heard plenty from my family."

"Would you like some?" Luke asked, cracking a true smile. "Did he tell you about how he inhaled the atmosphere on a helium-atmosphere planet and then sang a song?"
