Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

"They're just sparklers. Don't worry, it's nothing that will shoot off or anything," said WileyKit, jumping in before her brother could say anything. He was just a little too honest sometimes.

"So was Lion-o always such a good kid? 'Cause he used to get in trouble back home, but it was usually for not paying attention and stuff," she went on, trying to keep the subject off of fireworks."

WileyKit had just such an honest face! Momoko totally let the subject drop, even though Lion-o had warned her.

"Hmm. He was totally average, I guess? I mean, there were times when he got distracted and stuff, and he was kind of lonely sometimes. But after Thu..." Uhm. "After the summer where he grew, he kind of changed and became more calm. Not all the time, but a lot more."

And no she was not showing them any of the pictures of any of the mischief she and Lion-o may or may not have gotten into that first year. Some of that had never been published and was going to stay that way, so long as she had possession of her phone.

"He still totally doesn't do enough sword practice, though. And when there's no meat on the menu, he totally sulks. What kind of things did he do back home?"

"He used to fall asleep during meetings. I can't blame him, though. A lot of those council meetings were pretty boring," said WileyKat. "And most of the time, Jaga wouldn't let him handle a sword during practice. The rest of the adult Thundercats are like that, though. They don't let us practice enough with real weapons so we've had to teach ourselves."

His sister was nodding vigorously on that point.

"He didn't fall asleep in any of the classes we had together, or I would have pinched him." Momoko smiled, her eyes twinkling. "And well you're not supposed to train with real weapons at first! You totally start out learning the basics and then you get to use a wooden sword! At least that's how we do it back home."

"What kind of weapons are you trying to learn?"

"Panthro's nunchucks!" said WileyKat.

"And Tygra's bolo whip," added WileyKit.

"And Cheetara's staff, even if it isn't as much fun as the other weapons," said WileyKat.

"Speak for yourself. I like practicing with the staff," countered WileyKit.

Momoko laughed hard. "I can help with the staff, sort of? My main weapon is the yo-yo, but I also know how to use a sling, a gun, a sword, uhm... Some others?" She bent and gave them a wink. "If you're good, we can totally try to drag Lion-o to the Salle and make him practice with us!"
