Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

Knowing what graduations were like in Fandom, Sam wasn't about to miss whatever happened today. He couldn't believe it had already been two years since he'd graduated, and he was looking forward to seeing who would be crossing the stage this year, and what they'd have to deal with.

"He got stuck doing a family thing, so I'm flying solo today. How are you?" Sam asked with a smile. "Is your semester over?"

Dinah pulled back and grinned. "Not quite. Finals week is next week. I should be studying, buuuut... so many people going through graduation, how could I miss it?"

"Exactly!" Then Dinah sighed. "Yeah. I think Karla is the only one left who I'll know next year... and then the year after that, I'm graduating from college. Too freaking weird, Sam!"

"Oh geez, don't remind me we're halfway done with college. I don't want to think about the real world just yet," Sam said. "Then we'll have to be adults."

"Dude," Dinah said in a shocked voice. "Your brother will kill us both if you don't! Well, not me. I'm just his ex-sister-in-law." She snickered. "But yeah, you should definitely have one!" She grinned. "Well even invite the other groom."

"Dean will probably throw a fit if there isn't at least drinking the night before the wedding," Sam agreed. "I'm drawing the line at strippers though. Especially if Peter's there too." Someone was territorial. Maybe.
