Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

Wesley was on his third step up to the podium when he realized his heart was beating rather quickly. It was bizarre, that something as insignificant as high school graduation could intimidate him so much when he fought demons, had fought them and would continue to fight them in the future and rarely found himself frightened in the process. Accepting a diploma should be a relatively small deal by comparison.

And yet.

He took the diploma from Principal Winchester and managed a shaky smile out at the familiar faces in the crowd. It was the best he could do, really.

And he got an obnoxious whistle from the crowd, even! Lucky him!

Look, she could be proud of him when no one would know it was her. Duh.

It took Warren all of the self-control he had left to resist the urge to shout, "Stampede!" at the top of his lungs.

But the sentiment was there as he applauded, all the same.

Rilla clapped and cheered for him.

Annie clapped a little louder, even if her hands were tired by the W's.

Karla clapped for Wesley. They had gone through a lot together.

"Good show!" she shouted.

"GO WES." It had been a long two years since they met, and Quinn was glad Wes had been there for almost all of it.

"Way to go, Wa--" Amazingly, Kennedy actually thought twice about that phrase before it made it all the way out of her mouth.

"Way to go, Wes!"

"YOU DID IT, WES." Oh, look. Tara could be loud too. "YAY!"
