Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

Jeremy's nose wrinkled. "Don't say that." He was yet to hit a point in his life where he craved any kind of adult status or recognition. "Next you'll be telling me I should think about college."

Juliet scrunched her nose. "That's Dad's job," she said. "We probably should, but ... later. Nay I'll try Julliard."
stars_and_money: (Seriously?)

"But if you went there, we wouldn't go to the same school."

... Even if he wasn't all that sure she'd have a chance of actually getting into Julliard.

"But we'd both be living at home, so would it matter?" Juliet countered. "... right?

Never mind her chances of getting in at Julliard; she'd freak if Jeremy wanted to go outside New York.

They'd been in Fandom since January last year and barely visited home more than a few times, and Jeremy still basically thought they lived there instead of on the island.

So, no. He wasn't dying to go to college elsewhere.

"Well duh," he said. "But it's not the same thing."

"It's not," Juliet admitted, biting her lip. "But ... we'd make it work. Or we could both go to NYU. We have a year to figure it out."

"Yeah, it's too early," Jeremy agreed, shaking his head. He didn't even have a particular urge to go to college, but kind of knew it'd happen anyway. "Let's just... deal with this graduation first, y'know?"

Juliet wanted to take acting classes, but she didn't feel any real desire for the rest of college either.

It was a problem for later, and for now she nodded in agreement. "It's kind of rude, anyhow, to be worrying about us while people are graduating and stuff."
stars_and_money: (Look up bright eyes.)

"Exactly," Jeremy agreed with a firm nod. "So, let's just enjoy the show."

And possibly wonder whether there was any way they could nudge the school into getting slightly more flattering graduation gowns for next year.
