Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

To be fair, she had more than a small measure of Pride in herself for graduating, and her smile was more genuine as she walked across the stage to accept her diploma.

Toby grinned widely and clapped enthusiastically for Raven. Sure, they only seemed to ever talk under somewhat troubling circumstances, but after all the help she'd offered him, he definitely counted her a friend.

Okay, so Francine wasn't as loud as Jono -- not that she realized that was Jono, because blueness aside, he was, you know, cheering, with an actual larynx -- but she still gave a pretty happy attempt.

It was graduation. Anakin was allowed to be excited just this once.

Raven had risked herself to come home with Rinoa and Squall and save Ellone -- and then the entire world itself. She owed Raven a lot more than just a huge round of applause, but, well, that was what Raven was getting right now.

Hoshi got to her feet and enthusiastically clapped and cheered for Raven.

There was a ton of noise all over as people jumped up and cheered for Raven, which meant that a) Karla had to add to the din, dammit, and b) she also had to send a large burst of joy and pride and love Raven's way, too, just in case she couldn't make out Karla's voice amidst the crazy crowd.

Because there was no way Raven could mistake her for anyone else if she did, and for old time's sake, Kennedy stood up on her chair and yelled, "God, Raven!"

Tahiri whooped a little bit as she applauded Raven, thinking vaguely that it was kind of a shame there wasn't really a good Yuuzhan Vong word that worked as 'congratulations;" for the part Raven had played in helping her, it would have been fitting.
