Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

Jake was just glad he managed not to trip or do anything stupid while he got on stage. The significance of everything wasn't sinking in, but he was grinning anyway when he accepted the diploma.

It had been a long while since he and Jake had done any real damage together, but Jono couldn't help but remember the rush of the fighting they'd done side-by-side in Silent Hill, and the sort of freak-kinship that they'd had back when he was still a student himself.

Jono being crap at keeping touch with people wasn't going to stop him from applauding when Jacob went up to get his diploma.

It was almost too bad Jake hadn't tripped, because Caroline was getting every second of this on film. Including her own cheering for the boy.

Quinn was going to make a lot of noise for Jake, yeah. She couldn't believe they had made it this far.

Tahiri fondly remembered fighting alongside him, which warranted a little extra clapping.

Much clapping. And call of "JAKE!" from Scully.

Bod stood up when Jacob crossed the stage and applauded for him loudly.
