Fandom High Graduation Ceremony, Class of 2012, Early Saturday Evening (Part 1)

With things back to normal - or as normal as Fandom ever got - preparations for graduation had gone into full swing. The ceremony was set for right after sunset, to make sure all types of guests could safely attend, and the lawn had been lit up with blue and gold lights, creating safe paths in which to walk to the seating area and giving everything a twinkling, serene appearance.

Of course, the staff knew that graduation was rarely a serene event, and the fact that Ingvar's volcano was being unusually active emphasized the need to prepare the seniors as much as possible. Last year's cache of weapons had been discreetly stashed in a trunk behind the podium...and yes, they'd all been properly cleaned. Who knew what dried Viking blood could do to metal?

Once everything had been arranged, the guests were let in, and all that was left was to pray everything went smoothly.

Squall strode up to Zoe proudly and confidently, and gave her a curt, solemn node as he accepted the diploma.

The paper itself didn't mean much, but it was something to be proud of all the same.

And yet another one of the handful of people that Jono would trust to have his back without a second thought. It was a bit bittersweet, in a way, but Jono swallowed that back and clapped.

Jono got a nod and a wave. There wasn't anyone else Squall would rather have by his side, except for Rinoa.

Of course Rinoa had to cheer obnoxiously for Squall. It was part of the whole Knight-Sorceress thing. Really.

And possibly the whole girlfriend deal. That, too.

Well, Squall had INTENDED to do this all stoically and professionally. Intended. He abandoned that to give Rinoa a huge grin and a wave.

Raven really hadn't realized just how many of her friends were graduating today until they got toward the end of the alphabet. But it was good to be a in a class with so many friends, and she applauded and congratulated Squall.

"SMILE, SQUALL!" Karla yelled, from where she was standing on her chair. She laughed as she said it, though, figuring he'd know not to take her seriously. "CONGRATULATIONS!"

Fellow members of Apathy Club got applause. So here was George, applauding for Squall.

Was applause anti-Apathy? Meh, fuck it.

Squall had been a good guy to fight alongside, on more than one occasion. Kennedy whooped again, and whistled. (Yes, she had one of those annoyingly ear-piercing whistles. Sorry, anyone around her.)
