Rita sat behind her desk studying a book entitled 50 Signs of Mental Illness : A Guide to Understanding Mental Health.

Across the board in sparkling purple letters were instructions:

Work on the obituaries.

Do not attempt to be any nationality but your own.

If Nigel van Susteren shows up, he is advised to leave before he finds out what it's like to be a scarab beetle cockroach canary.

Rory took another picture and sent it to Aeryn: "TINY MEERKAT 2DAY. AW."

John tries to cross his arms. But they're too short so he only ends up flailing like a flailing thing.

So, he makes a noise that sounds like a whine.

Chloe grins with jealousy at Rory's phone. "We've got to get Aeryn to come to class some day so she can see John in action."

John does not like that idea, oh no!

So he scampers away and hides behind a bookshelf.

Rory put an Oreo by the bookshelf.

"Come on, John."

Rory moved back a few feet, further into the room, and set another Oreo down.

John sniffs and smells another Oreo.

So, he scampers out again, tries to grab the Oreo and make a quick escape.

She took him over to Rita.

"Fix him."

"He's better this way," Rita said lazily.

John makes a grab for Rita's glasses.

Rita waved her wand, and the tiny meerkat floated up into the air.

John flails about in the air. When he realizes he isn't falling, he does flips and somersaults and wonders if there is a meerkat Olympics.

Since Rita has earlier reiterated that John is, in fact, a male, John does what males do.

He uses the bathroom while floating in mid air near Rita.

"Ew," Rory said helpfully.

She didn't take a picture for Aeryn.

Rita just looked disgusted, muttered a scouring spell, and returned John to her desk.

John skitters around on Rita's desk, messing up papers and making claw marks on good wood.

He might be plotting to jump on Rita's shoulder now...

Rita flicked her wand.

Oh, look. A boy where there was a meerkat!

Unfortunately, John had some momentum from his time as meerkat so he kind of falls off Rita's desk, clips her thigh and falls at her feet.

Ouch.

"You got steel in your legs?" John rubs his shoulder. "Another animal? Where's the originality?"
