Anarchist Philanthropist Club; Tuesday after Classes [ 01/31 ].

Hopefully, everyone had made it to the clandestine location in which the Anarchist Philanthropists of Fandom High would unleash their first revolutionary bit of charity. If not, well, then, they would probably find themselves on the better side of the law. Though she was hardly a law-abiding citizen, Britta was nervous, wringing her hands a little as she looked toward the store, and then back to her fellow anarchists.

“Okay, guys, so,” she said, “every day, thousands of people in this country alone are starving because they don’t have enough food, so a lot of people will do canned food drives to bring truckloads of sustenance to food shelters for those less fortunate. Unfortunately, what people don’t realize is that, by going into mega marts and super stores and purchasing this food, they’re just funneling in money to the same corporations and big business that hold the people they’re trying to help down in the first place! So we’re going to have a canned food drive ourselves, but we’re going to do it....” She paused for dramatic effect and a big grin, “anarchist style.”

Jim was not facepalming. He wasn't! Could you see how good he was being, not facepalming?

"I mean, obviously this activity is optional, since neither of us is really in charge or anything," he ventured, "and in the end you can do it however you want to," which included paying, but where was the fun in that? "What we're really going for is getting some food on the tables of some hungry families out there, however we can. And maybe for not getting caught. I'm a pretty big fan of not getting caught."

He was one arrest away from Juvenile Hall. He really, really, really didn't want to get caught.

Britta was also one arrest away from Juvie, but that wasn’t going to stop her from narrowing her eyes slightly at Jim as though he was so not being anarchist enough right now. “Not getting caught is a good idea,” she said, “so it’ll probably be a good idea if some of us cause a distraction. So while some of us are causing a distraction, the rest of us are going to bust into that establishment,” she pointed dramatically toward Turtle & Canary, “grab all the non-perishable foods we can, and run like heck. We’ll rendezvous back in the classroom to go over the spoils and get them ready to be shipped out to needy associations. And there will also be punch and pie, as well as some completely vegan snacking options, too.”

All apologies to Elphaba if she was there for the over-exaggerated and poorly executed wink that was directed her way at that point.

"Yeah, I think I'm going to be with the distraction team," Jim said, with a look that suggested that he was seriously considering cutting his losses and heading back to the dorms at a run the moment Britta had her insane little head turned the other way. "You know. Because I'm good at that. Distracting. Yeah."

“Okay, guys,” Britta clapped her hands together. “Let’s go!”

[[ and the OCD, she is a'comin' has arrived ]]

*raises hand*

I am all for Elphie taking up the job as punishment. I may have just spaced at volunteering last week.

(I have to run off to class soon but will be free all afternoon)

Pinkie was totally into the sneaky spirit, and as such, had donned a disguise.

No one would recognize her in those Groucho glasses!

It was possible that, since no one had actually said the word yet, she didn't realize there was any actual stealing involved in this assignment.

"Um... I think it would be best for me to sit this one out," Matt said after listening carefully to the plan. "I think I would just get in everyone's way. Unless you want me to be a distraction."

[identity profile] childhood-taunt.livejournal.com 2012-01-31 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
"I could do that," Matt said with a wry grin. "I'm pretty good at making a mess. Plus you know how dedicated I am to humanitarian efforts."

Yes. Matt thought he was being funny.

"Hello!" Matt said cheerfully as he entered the store, tapping his cane. "I'm looking for some duct tape? Can you tell me where it might be located."

And as Matt chatted away he headed right for a display of canned goods, his cane swinging swiftly at them.

Matt didn't bother to hide his grin. "I'll see what I can do," he said before heading toward the doors of the store.

Matt was there with a somewhat amused look on his face. He had no idea what was going to happen next but he was sure it was going to be... interesting.

Elphaba rather enjoyed this group. So she'd turned up, smile on her face, ready to see what thoughts Britta had to share this week...

Elphaba thought for a moment. She didn't want to outright refute the idea to her new friend, as there must have been some merit to this idea.

And once she realized that this would help damage the vile industrial farming industry she'd grown to loathe, she decided it wasn't too extreme at all.

"I can try either distraction or grabbing," Elphaba said. "Magic can cause a bit of a mess if it goes of 'accidentally'."

Kenzi was already scavenging. Hey, you never know what might be handy.

"Isn't it a lucky thing that this is my skill set?" Kenzi was bouncing with glee already. "Acquiring of goods! Me!"

Na na na na na na KLEPTO GIRL! FOR GREAT ANARCHY!

Kenzi kept an eye on the distractors, and slipped goods into the pockets of her huge jacket from every aisle. Tonight there would be a Robin Hood feast. On Cheetos! And ramen! And pudding cups!

She may have been under the delusion that Shunshui was still the owner, and may have planned on explaining stuff to him if she got caught. He'd go for it! Surely!

Kenzi's getting away with it, yay! Thank you so much for giving her the chance to exercise her skills!

Kenzi was already digging into a pudding cup.

What? She was poor! And there was such a thing as a commission, come on.

"Have some fruit roll-ups!" Yes, Kenzi shoplifted all the junk food. You're welcome.

Jim was going to just spend the rest of the day laying low. If his face was caught on the security cameras at all, he'd be screwed.

... Okay, he'd lay low after the meeting, and wonder just what in the world he'd gotten himself into in the meantime.

Surreal had gone into T&C for supplies of her own - which she actually intended to pay for - when she saw Kenzi packing things away like the girl was going to starve tomorrow.

"I don't even want to know what a Cheeto is," she decided, making a face at the orange color on the bag and picking up pretzels instead. "For fun, or that broke?"

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 12:57 am (UTC)(link)
Kenzi turned, eyebrows up in innocence, then grinning when she saw it wasn't a panda or other employee. "Fun," she said, keeping her voice down. "Anarchy Club. Feed the poor. Mess with shop-owners. And Cheetos are chemical addictive goodness!"

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] harpy-daughter.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 01:02 am (UTC)(link)
"There's plenty of ways to mess with shop owners," Surreal offered dryly. "But you can't argue with redistributing the wealth."

She picked up a can of salsa, turned it over in her hands, and then vanished it, the jar disappearing instantly. "Too bad there isn't steak here, huh?"

Look, the Magic Box paid decently, but she didn't have THAT much of a paycheck yet. Surreal wasn't opposed to falling back on old habits for good reasons.

"...think this count as extra points for Carrick's class?"

[gotta go pick up a friend w/ a flat. back asap.]

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 01:08 am (UTC)(link)
"Dude," Kenzi said, still impressed by stuff like that. "Is there any way I can learn that?... Maybe we should hit Outback next. There's gotta be a way to relieve them of some steaks."

Kenzi had three different paychecks, but that all didn't add up to much.

"It should! Some of us might be already on the run. Indefinitely. Sort of."

[No worries! And good luck!]

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] harpy-daughter.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 03:47 am (UTC)(link)
"What is the phrase?" Surreal asked, racking her brain for the few pop-culture things she'd picked up. "'Amen, Sister?' Something like that? Although I prefer to think of it as running towards something better, instead of away from something."

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 03:49 am (UTC)(link)
Kenzi pointed at her with one hand, and slipped licorice into an inner pocket with the other. "You got it. And yeah. Just because I don't have a 'plan' yet--" She rolled her eyes on plan, and continued. "--doesn't mean that it's not already better than the last place. We so deserve extra credit."

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] harpy-daughter.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 03:53 am (UTC)(link)
"'A plan never survives the first encounter with the enemy,'" Surreal recited, rolling her eyes as she parroted Sadi. "Over-rated. A plan can be predicted. I prefer being unpredictable."

Which meant she had to go around the corner to the small selection of canned soups and vanish a half-dozen. "I can probably stash a few more things before straining myself," she said. Surreal really preferred not to draw on her Green unless she needed to do so. "We got priorities?"

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 03:56 am (UTC)(link)
"Just non-perishable," and you couldn't say Cheetos were perishable, "so that's good. Hmm. Maybe something kids would like, we're supposed to give this away too. Me, I always liked Spaghetti-O's." Kenzi tucked a couple cans up her voluminous sleeves, and peeked around one aisle to see how the distraction was going. "Unpredictable, yes! Why is that so under-valued?"

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] harpy-daughter.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 04:10 am (UTC)(link)
Surreal followed Kenzi's gaze with a smirk. "That your partner?" she asked, looking back to squint at the 'Spaghetti-O's'. They looked...weird. But edible? So two cans got vanished.

Re: Back at the School - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] harpy-daughter.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
Surreal had, well, followed Kenzi back, because that was what you did when you were carrying around goods you helped someone steal randomly.

Look, it was for a cause near and dear to her heart.

So she called it all back in, dumped it all in a pile, and helped herself to some punch. And wondered (silently) why there seemed to be a party.

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 04:12 am (UTC)(link)
"There's a couple of us here," Kenzi admitted very quietly. "Anarchy Club. All these stores are usually big chains, and they can afford to lose the stock, so..."

Never mind that Turtle & Canary wasn't, really.

Re: Shoplifting...FOR JUSTICE! - APC, 01/31.

[identity profile] harpy-daughter.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 04:14 am (UTC)(link)
"I have no idea what an anarchy club is," Surreal admitted cheerfully, "-but I've behaved myself for an acceptable period of time. A girl has to exercise her life-skills, even at school."

[identity profile] regretiz4suckas.livejournal.com 2012-02-01 04:23 am (UTC)(link)
"Cool!" Kenzi grinned at Surreal, a bit less intimidated by her outside of classes, now that she was acting like Kenzi's kind of people. She grabbed a few Snickers bars and shoved them in her pockets. "I'll show you where we're meeting up after. Hopefully nobody gets pinched."
