Cassidy wasn't exactly sure what had happened to cause so many unhappy psychic scents in the dorms today, but since she had promised Ender that she would be more careful about running blindly into things, she did the next best thing.

She fled to the library.

Yes, this was her example of using tactics today.

She shelved the books that needed to be shelved and then went back behind her desk to check in the books that were waiting to be taken care of. After she was done with that task, she settled into the chair behind her desk. In front of her was the book on tactics she was still studying and a book that was supposed to be about dreams that witches have.

She was going to be incredibly confused for a bit because that wasn't what she was expecting at all.

Ender had no idea whether Cassidy even kept a phone on her, but she had a voicemail number, and he'd use it. He remembered how much the change had thrown off Karla the first time around, and he had no intention of showing up and putting Cassidy through that if he could help it.

If she didn't respond by the end of the afternoon, he'd brave the library anyway. As it was, this would have to do.

Cassidy, this is Ender. It's another one of Fandom's more whimsical weekends, so I hope you don't mind that I'm not stopping by this week.

Cassidy felt her phone vibrating in her pocket a few minutes later and pulled it out to listen to her voicemail. She nodded and then sent him a text message back.

Are you all right? Do you need me to bring you anything?

I'm fine. I just seem to be female for the weekend, Ender wrote back.

Because awkward, Cassidy. He knew your people well enough to know that.

Look, Ender, she used the full epithet on your behalf.

I didn't want to upset you by turning up out of the blue, Ender wrote back, because yes, that was exactly the reaction he'd expected.
