Trust issues. Good points yesterday, I think today we need to discuss the role trust plays when you are the sender. Do you need to trust the receiver? How about the message? How about...yourself? What happens when a communicator lacks trust in themselves to communicate? Go.

"I don't know," Cole shrugged. "Because he's evil? Because he wants to piss me off?"

Phoebe looked curious. To someone who knew her well, she was hiding something.

"Why would someone hitting me piss you off?"

"Just because we're not together it doesn't mean I want to see you hurt," Cole mumbled.

Phoebe didn't raise an eyebrow at that.

"Thanks," she said softly. "Will you believe me if I told you that it wasn't Crowley?"

"Then what was it?" Cole said. "You really did fall? Or was it someone else?"

"Sweet-- Cole, I really did fall," she said softly. "I was trying to do a series of back-flips and since I haven't done them in awhile, I faltered. The first time, I landed on my shoulder and the next time my face."

"Okay," Cole said, accepting her explanation. "But...if someone really does hurt you, you'll let me know? Have you gone to the clinic?"

Phoebe smiled faintly, confused, but touched that he was worried about her. "I... yeah, if someone does hurt me, I'll let you know," she said softly. "No, I haven't. Since James and Dr. House left, I'm hesitant about the clinic again."

"You should go anyway," Cole said gruffly. "I'm sure the new staff will be okay."

Phoebe looked back down at the desk, subconscious about him seeing the bruise for some reason.

"You of all people know how I feel about doctors," she said softly.

"You sure it's just a bruise, you don't have a concussion or anything?" Cole asked.

Phoebe shook her head. "No, I don't know. I think my muscles are just really sore... and I don't want anyone messing with my head."

"As long as you think you're okay...." Cole said reluctantly. He couldn't force her to go to the clinic after all.

She reached to squeeze his hand, but then pulled back, not sure if he'd flinch away from her.

"I appreciate it, Cole."

Cole nodded, wanting to express more feelings but afraid to try, and returned to his classwork.

Phoebe watched him out of the corner of her eye for a moment, confused about the conflicting emotions she was picking up from him.

With a sigh, she turned her attention back to CJ.
