The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

For once, Jeremy actually came into the gym on purpose when the club fair was being set up. There was at least one club he knew he wanted to sign up for, after all.

So, he grabbed himself a copy of the club schedule, and set out to explore his options.

[OCD up!]

"Awww, geez." Kenzi's enthusiasm had waned a little, but now her sympathy was engaged. "That sucks. She okay?" She tilted her head. "I don't mind looking after kids. Or food bank stuff."

Yeah, she didn't want to pick up litter too much. She didn't even pick up her room sometimes.

"She's fine now, but it was pretty rough at first. She stayed at a friend's place while he and I went off to get the money to rebuild, and now the place is almost up again," he replied, shrugging. "But yeah, if there's anything that you'd like to see us do, don't hesitate to let us know, okay? It can't all be picking up garbage."

Jim had been a cabin boy for pirates. He was good at cleaning up after others, but that didn't mean he liked it.

"Cool. Hmmm." There had to be something. Frankly, the Anarchy part of this was what had attracted her. "So if we wanted to do flash mobs for a good cause, you guys would be up for it? Or art installations for stuff?"

Re: Talk to the Representatives – Anarchist Philanthropist Club [CF Spring 2012]

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2012-01-21 02:11 am (UTC)(link)
"Art installations would be kind of cool," Jim mused. "I mean, so long as we're not spray-painting local business walls or anything, if we're doing it to raise awareness about something, why not?"

...

"What's a flash mob?"

Jim was one of only a tiny handful of Disney characters who wasn't actually prone to random sweeping musical numbers with all the townsfolk. Hell, he hadn't even felt inclined to sing when the rest of the island had been, last week.

Lucky, lucky Jim.

"It's where you get a text to show up somewhere to randomly sing and dance, freak people out, maybe bring attention to either the place or some kinda issue," Kenzi said, then grinned. "Or just the freaking people out part.... and hey. Abandoned warehouses with art on them would be okay, right?"

As long as they didn't have superheroes in them!

"I guess so long as the art is... actually art," Jim mused, "and not just random spray-painted mess, I guess."

He'd probably clear it with the mayor before they did any painting, and just not tell anyone from the club. He was trying not to add more dings to his multiversal permanent record while he was on the island, if he could help it. His months in space had mellowed him out slightly in that regard, if nothing else.

"I think the singing and dancing thing would probably work better if it was something we had time to rehearse for," he added. "Some of us aren't from Earth and don't really know all the songs, you know?"

Kenzi was all in favor of it not just being a mess of words. She didn't have a purpose in mind yet, but...

"Yeah, that's fair," she conceded. "Some people might be into it, some might not." She grinned. "Cool. What gave you guys the idea for this?"

"Just getting to know one another back on the shuttle in, on picnic day," Jim replied with a shrug. "Britta and I were talking about government oppression or something like that, and how she was kicked out of her last anarchy club, and we got to talking about anarchy for a good cause."

There was totally such a thing, dammit.

"It kind of just morphed into this from there."

One of the cupcakes made a burbling sound, opened two big eyes, and looked up at Jim expectantly. He reached down and gave it a pat on the... icing... And then shrugged again, for good measure.

"Not you, buddy."

Or Anarchy for LOLs! Kenzi was so there.

Kenzi's jaw dropped, and she stared at the... former cupcake. "Ummm?"

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2012-01-21 02:53 am (UTC)(link)
As Kenzi stared, the cupcake leaned over, and... ate another cupcake whole.

And then burped.

"They don't all do that," Jim laughed, holding out his hand in front of the dessert in question. It looked at his hand for a moment, and then burbled happily at him before turning into a pink blob of goop and floating over to settle in it. "And I'd appreciate it if nobody ate this one. I'm kind of fond of him."

"Duuuude," Kenzi said, leaning forward in fascination, now that the shock had worn off. Also, some envy for the cupcake eating. "Is he your pet? Or she. What is it? Hi, little guy. Swear, not looking to eat you. Ech."

"He's a he," Jim replied, shrugging as Morph floated up and flew a circle around Kenzi, looking her over with a critical eye. A really, really big one that settled into a more sane size once he was satisfied that she was good people. "And he's a morph. Which happens to be his name, too. Silver, the... uh... cook on the ship that I was cabin boy on, gave him to me after we got back home."

"Morph. Hi Morph!" Kenzi held out a finger to him, wondering if he was slimy or squooshy or just soft. "How cooooool. He flies! He changes shape! And he scarfs cupcakes! So much better than a puppy, I swear." She tilted her head at Jim. "Cabin boy? I'm thinking this wasn't an ocean liner, hunh."

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2012-01-21 03:14 am (UTC)(link)
Jim shrugged as Morph zipped forward to investigate Kenzi's finger, and then, deciding it was good enough for him, he settled in to perch on it. Cozy! He wasn't slimy or anything, though. Just... squishy. Like Silly Putty with a mind of its own.

"Definitely nothing really fancy," Jim laughed, shaking his head. "That said... the Legacy is a pretty fine ship. I'd serve under Captain Amelia again in a heartbeat, if she asked me to."

...

"Maybe not as a cabin boy, though. Something with less mopping."

Kenzi resisted the urge to smish him to death. SO CUTE.

"Mopping, bah. And yay, the Captain was a woman? Coooool. Where did you get to go?"

Jim couldn't help but grin at that. Oh, man. Asking him that question was like asking for it.

"Pretty far from home," he replied. "We past a few galaxies, a nebula or two. It took a few months, but we made it all the way to Treasure Planet."

And then accidentally blew it up. As you do.

"Treasure... planet?!?" Kenzi squeaked. "Tell me more! Pleeeeease?"

"Pirate's treasure," Jim replied, smirking. "Flint's trove. The loot of a thousand worlds."

So, so many gold drubloons.

"I managed to get my hands on a map. So, you know... we went there."

Squeaky noises. Of joy. Possibly rapture.

"And and and?"

[identity profile] answer2bheard.livejournal.com 2012-01-21 03:52 am (UTC)(link)
"And the entire world was full of it," Jim replied, getting pretty excited, now. Morph burbled merrily and transformed himself into a tiny chest, gleaming with gems and gold coins before swirling around Kenzi's finger and changing back again. "All underground, you know? More than we ever could have hoped to bring home. But we did get enough to rebuild Mom's inn."

"Dude!" Kenzi threw herself on her knees in front of the table, ready to beg, petting Morph, eyes huge and hopeful. "Does Captain Amelia have any openings? I can bartend! I can mop floors! I can haul things!" Despite how scrawny she looked. "The next time you guys go back there, I just-- TREASURE PLANET." She was going to be dreaming about this forever!

And that right there was when Jim scrunched his nose and shook his head with a sigh.

"She won't be going back there," he replied. "The planet had a booby trap mechanism. If anyone made it to the inside and tripped it, it would... well... kind of blow up. A bit."

A lot. It had blown up. A lot.

"Noooooooooooooooooooooooooo..." Kenzi mourned, heart-struck. She looked from Jim to Morph. "Oh you poor guys. That had to *suck*. But but who would put in a booby trap? MEAN!"

"Flint," Jim answered, easily enough. "What pirate wants people taking off with his treasure, right? I mean... that's kind of the whole thing about being pirates. You don't exactly want to share."

"Well, yeah," Kenzi agreed reluctantly. "But now he doesn't even have it! I just, it's a tragedy." She shook her head. "Even if I'm glad your mom got enough to fix up her place and all... I just. I wanna cry. I really do."
