The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

For once, Jeremy actually came into the gym on purpose when the club fair was being set up. There was at least one club he knew he wanted to sign up for, after all.

So, he grabbed himself a copy of the club schedule, and set out to explore his options.

"Hello," Elphaba greeted Britta, looking about at the table. "What exactly is an anarchist philanthropist?"

It seemed to take a second for Britta's brain to start on this one, mostly because it was being confirmed that Elphaba really was green and it wasn't just the pot.

"Heyyyy," she said, once things got going in there, a bit overly friendly to make up for it, "you."

To be fair, when Britta had met the other girl, she had been in a little bit of a drug-induced haze, and Elphaba wasn't exactly a name that just rolled off the tongue from memory.

"I'd offer a cupcake, but I'm not sure if they're vegan." At least she remembered that part? "An it's easy, really. It's doing good thing for people that The Man has stepped on. It's standing up for equality, despite the massive push of capitalist and ideologue jerkwads who try to keep others down with all their power-hungry, war-mongering bullshit. Pretty cool, huh?"

"That sounds very cool," Elphaba admitted, even if she found 'cool' such an odd term. "And exactly the sort of thing I wouldn't mind being associated with. I just sign up here?"

"That's right!" said Britta, with an enthusiastic nod, but then she shrugged her shoulders. "Or don't. I mean, anarchists, right? So don't feel obligated to have to sign your name like some sort of contract; I know I wouldn't."

Elphaba raised an eyebrow. "But you're sitting right here for the group," she said, not quite understanding.

"Well, yeah," said Britta, "but you don't see my name on the list, do you?"

And, leaning over for a better look, she saw her name actually was on top under the student leaders. "Oh. I guess it is. Well, I didn't put it there. The only reason we even have leaders is because the school said we had to."

"But in practice no one is in charge?" Elphaba said, amused. She reached over to actually sign up properly. "Well, I'll save the creative anarchy for when we actually meet."

"Exactly," Britta nodded. "Kind of defeats the whole purpose."

And hopefully prevented anyone trying to vote her out for not being anarchist enough.

"Either way, good to have you on board..." Now that the name was written, Britta could steal a quick look and pretend like she never forgot, "Elphaba!"

"Hey, I'd say I'm pretty fearless," said Britta. "It's just the leader part that a little questionable, and intentionally so. I believe humankind need not be governed."

"I think my father the governor might disagree," Elphaba said, smirking. "But I often think him wrong about many things. I wouldn't mind hearing more about your ideals, actually. So it's a good thing I signed up for the group."

"Of course he's say that if he's the one governing," Britta reasoned, but she smiled, too. "And it'll be nice to have someone who'll actually listen for a change, too."

"Well, we Anarchist Philanthropists will have to stick together," Elphaba said. "And actually, I'm reminded that I should be thanking you. For sharing when we met on the roof, I mean."

That had been a new experience and a half.

"Awwww!" Britta feigned a little bit of modesty with her laugh. "Don't mention it. You've got to be a real jerk to not share."

"I'll keep that in mind if I ever end up with any myself. I have no idea where you find it. But I will absolutely share with you when I do," Elphaba said with a nod.
