The Club Fair, Gym, Friday Afternoon

For once, Jeremy actually came into the gym on purpose when the club fair was being set up. There was at least one club he knew he wanted to sign up for, after all.

So, he grabbed himself a copy of the club schedule, and set out to explore his options.

There are tables to sit at. Or you could just wander around. Your choice.

Why Kate was here when she had no particular interest in any of the clubs here today... Well, who knew. Maybe she secretly wanted to be inspired.

Or was just that bored.

Either way, she was slouched at a table watching people.

"Joining a club this time?" Mercy asked.

Rebecca was too cool for tables and wandering around, so she leaned against a wall instead, eyeing the different booths critically.

"A sorority?" she said, rolling her eyes. "Please."

Oh, boy! The club fair was here! The club fair was here! Butters had found a spot on the bleachers, talking to himself as he pulled out a crayon-drawing map of the gym and all the different tables and clubs, planning out his path for maximum club exposure.

Kenzi saw Butters with all his crayons and just *had* to check on what he was doing.

"Hi, Candy. What's all that?"

Butters gave Kenzi a long-suffering look that showed just how happy he was to see her.

"Kenzi. It's a map; I'm plannin' out my most optimal club visitin' path, see?"

"Most optimal-- path?" Kenzi leaned close to look, then had to grin. Partly at Butters' discomfort. "So you can visit the most in the least amount of time? Or so you can meet the most people, get the most snacks?"

Butters wanted to just swat Kenzi away like a fly, but he didn't. He just pulled himself up and tried to pretend like it didn't bother him none at all. "All of the above. I don't want to wind up missin' nothin', you know, an' I wanna see everyone, so I thought it would be a good idea to figure out when to visit everything to get the most out of it."

"Are you joining every club in the gym?" Kenzi asked, poking at the map. "Also, are you still doing Radio, Tex? I've been missing broadcasts."

"Well, not every club," said Butters, "probably just the frat and Pride, like last time, but I still wanna see 'em all."

The other question, though, had his shoulders sagging something fierce and his face downcast right along with it. "And, gee, whiz, Kenzi. No, I'm not doin' radio any more. I had to stop."

"Sure, sure... awww. Why?" It had been fun to hear Butters call her crazy on the Radio! "Is it your parents?"

"Yeah," muttered Butters miserably. "It's my parents. They said I'm grounded, so I can't do radio no more because they didn't like some of the things I was sayin'."

Darcy had figured there would be free food. Darcy was a bit disappointed, but still looking around.

Jeremy wandered about in his usual relaxed manner. Hey, clubs were pretty fun.

Even if he did have a horrible track record of actually attending meetings.

Simon wasn't really intending to sign up for anything this time around, because his focus was elsewhere, not on extracurriculars.

But he was here all the same, watching people from his seat by a table.

"Hey," Mercy slid into a seat next to him, hot chocolate in hand. "How's it going?"

"Good," Simon replied, with a brief smile. Nothing was especially bad, right now. Not worse than usual. "Hello, Mercy. How are you?"

"Still recovering from the weekend," she said with a smile. "It was... unique."

"Oh." Simon's smile took a turn for the slightly embarrassed, even though the weekend had barely done anything to him. It was just... sympathetic towards everyone else. "I wasn't really affected."

"I had this sort of... UST thing going with Peter of all people," Mercy said, looking baffled. "And then I ended up on some reality show to marry my Big Brother, Tony. I was actually in a hot tub with him, but it faded to dark before we did anything but hold hands, thank heavens."

"I'm sorry," he said, sincerely, even if he looked slightly amused. Look, the island had done far worse things in the past. "But this week has been... normal, hasn't it?"

He was sure the next weird thing was just around the corner.

"So far, so good," Mercy said with a smile. "But I'm pretty sure you just jinxed us."

Stacey thought it might be good to see what all there was around here to do. Maybe she could meet more people, make friends, find a new interest...

She wasn't at all looking for any clubs on babysitting. They'd been all the rage in the 80's and 90's but they were so last year and she'd outgrown that phase. Really. Not looking at all.

Mercy was here. She planned to sign up for Pride again, but wasn't sure if she wanted to continue in the sorority. She wasn't really the type, but it did make her get out and interact with people.
