The Elements of Friendship, Thursday, Period 3

The Danger Shop was set up as a barnyard this week for Pinkie's class, though there were fortunately no animals in sight. There was a pile of fabric, a ring of watering cans on the ground and a few tables off to the side covered in old fashioned canning jars, and what looked like cans of paint and brushes by the barn itself, but no animals.

Pinkie was standing off to one side as the students gathered, wearing a rather fetching bonnet. She stood next to a much older green and white pony napping in a rocking chair.

"Welcome back, students!" Pinkie said. The green and white pony snorted and woke up long enough to holler "lima beans!" before resuming her loud snoring. Pinkie started again, in a quieter voice this time.

"Welcome back! This week, I've got an extra special treat for you! We're going to learn how to make zap-apple jam! Zap apples are magical rainbow apples that only grow for four days out of each year back home in Equestria, and ponies come from all over to sample some of the amazing jam made only by my good friend, Granny Smith Apple." Pinkie gestured to the snoring pony beside her. "Luckily for you, she's decided to share her recipe with us! Isn't that amazing?"

As Pinkie waited for the students to tell her it was, indeed, amazing, the howling of distant wolves echoed over the class. Granny woke again, sitting bolt up right this time, and started smacking a cast iron skillet with her hoof.

"The timber wolves are howling! The timber wolves are howling!"

"That's right, Granny Smith," Pinkie said. "And you know what that means!"

Granny probably did -- but she'd fallen back asleep.

"We'll just let her sleep for awhile," Pinkie decided. "We've got lots of preparation to do before the zap-apple harvest!"

[ooc: and we're live!]

Cassidy was listening -- and wondering if Granny Smith had any interesting stories. Grandmothers usually did.

You knew it was a bad week when Peter barely even reacted to impending humiliation.

He was still dealing with yesterday's news in his head. Sorry.

Magical apples? Loki saw no issue with that part of class at least. Seemed legit.

Look, he was from a special place, okay?

Oh, jam! Rapunzel thought jam was wonderful, and always wondered how you were supposed to make it!

(None of her experiments had turned out quite right...)

Huh. Apparently someone had designed this bunny suit for people with less than 80 feet of hair. This was sad because Rapunzel really wanted to learn how to make jam, and she was already having problems with the first step!

Hank was having a BLAST already!

Hopefully, the zap-apples wouldn't be hurt by him screwing up the alphabet song.

"Swear to god," Richie said to nobody in particular once he'd put on the suit, "pictures of this end up anywhere and I will have to murder whoever took them. Just saying."

Look, he just figured you should humor the giant pink talking pony, okay?

Re: Zap-Apple Jamming! [1/19] - Yell at the jars

Now sans bunny suit, Richie was happy to take out a little aggression on the poor defenseless jars.

Polka dots were pretty goofy but at least he wasn't in a bunny suit or yelling at inanimate objects. This was definitely the best of the three tasks today. Probably because it was the least embarassing.

Re: Zap-Apple Jamming! [1/19] - Have some jam!

[identity profile] richieryan.livejournal.com 2012-01-20 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
At least all the weirdness ended with food. Of course, the food was weird too. Jam wasn't supposed to have stripes. It wasn't supposed to be made by ponies either though, so Richie was going to go with it. Probably he was just hungry.

In fact, Cassidy was quite cheerful about the bunny suits -- even if they made no sense to her.

Jim... didn't mind the bunny suit so much, really. There were worse things that he could be wearing. He wasn't sure what, but there were. Maybe that space suit that Dr. Doppler picked up that one time.

"Hey, Professor Pie," he said, walking up to her with a little smile on his face and one bunny ear drooping over half his face, "can I talk to you for a moment?"
