Parker opened the library, and started making plans. She may have been drinking a lot of coffee.

"Speak of the devil!" Bel said as he saw Marty. He wondered if he could put the anti-violence protection Parker just mentioned to the test. "You got balls showing your face to me, I'll give you that," he continued. "Thinking you can hide from me in here?"

Sam gave Belthazor a confused look and wondered just how many people this Blank fellow pissed off on a regular basis. "Um. I wasn't really trying to hide from anyone, really," Sam replied. "This wouldn't happen to have anything to do with her rabbit? Because I've been trying to apologize-"

"Rabbit?" Bel repeated. "What the hell are you talking about? Let me refresh your memory. Me, you, tranquilizers ring a bell? Are you hoping I'd forget about what you did to do to me?"

"Oh," Sam replied with confused look until what he had read in Marty's journal started to snap into place. "Oh! You! That's right! I need to talk to you."

"Fine," Bel said with a grin. "Let's just step outside, then, and...talk."

Having already gotten a warning from Al and knowing what happened in the journal, Sam knows that would be a pretty bad idea.

"How about we just chat here. In public," Sam replied. "I think we just have a... misunderstanding."

"A misunderstanding?" Bel repeated. "What, you were aiming for something behind me when you shot me full of darts? Give me one good reason why I shouldn't shimmer you out of here and beat the crap out of you."

Well the kid was supposed to be an assassin right?

Sam gave Bel a ~~glare~~ hard look. "How about I didn't use bullets? Is that a good enough reason for you?"

"Yeah, and I'm kinda curious as to why," Bel said. "Why not take me down when you had the chance?"

Sam groaned inwardly. He must of read the line over a dozen times in Marty's journal. The fact that he had to say it out lound just struck Sam as being hopelessy corny.

"It's just... I have this newfound respect for life," Sam tried to say without rolling his eyes. "Even with somebody who's been getting more and more out of control since he broke up with his girlfriend."

The comment surprised Bel. "What do you care about that?" he said suspiciously. "Most of your little group are congratulating her."

"What do you expect them to do?" Sam replied. "Everyone heard on the radio how she thinks you're out to get her. Even she thinks that. Is that what you really want?"

"No," Bel growled. "It's not true, but I seriously doubt I can change anyone's mind. Which brings us back to what's it to you? Why the sudden interest in my personal life?"

"You think I'm not doing this out of the kindness of my heart? For Phoebe?," Sam replied. " Fine. If you don't want to hear my foolproof plan on how I can get the two of you back together, then I won't share it with you."

Of course having a plan might help...

Bel crossed his arms and started at Marty. "All right, I'll play your little game. Just how, exactly, can I win Phoebe back?"

"Meet me back here in the library tomorrow, and I'll lay it all out for you. Preparations must be made," Sam said in a mysterious way.

Hopefully by then he can pull an idea together.

"Sure, what time?" Bel said, still not convinced of Marty's good intentions. "But if you're trying to pull something over on me, I promise, you won't like what happens next."

"Third period? Fourth Period?" Marty suggests, "And do you really think I want to start something? Here?"

"Third works," Bel said. "I'll see you then." He looked Marty over. "I have no idea what you're up to, but I can't wait to find out."

Parker watched the ensuing confrontation with narrowed eyes-- in a fight between Bel and Marty, the choice was obvious, but she wasn't going to help the guy beyond preserving his skin this week.
