Multi-Disciplinary Self Defense

Duncan has kendo staves and wooden swords.

"Okay, we'll drill a bit more with staves, but I wanted you to see what we're working toward. And that is, what a piece of wood can do against a blade." He grins fiercely.

"Anyone who knows their way around a sword willing to volunteer a bit?"

"It is by me," Cameron replied as he stepped up beside Angel.

Angel picked out a spot for them that was just a little bit away from the others. He lowered his voice so only Cam could hear. "Sword. For the neck. Don't worry about whether or not you hit me. Just get used to how quickly I can move if I need to."

Cameron raised an eyebrow because that was easier said than done. He really wasn't feeling up to chopping off Angel's head before Friday and considering he already managed to shoot Tex during the snow monsters attack...

"Alright," he said somewhat warily as he brought up is sword.

"We'll start slow," Angel promised. "Thing to remember is good odds they'll be young. Not a lot of experience. Any training is good training."

"I'm not going to argue with that," Cameron agreed and when he was sure Angel was ready, he made a straight forward swung for the neck. He might have been holding back, though.

Jack glances askance at Angel and Cam, wondering why they seem to be so intently discussing their drills. It made Jack suspicious.

Angel easily blocked him with the stave. "Harder. We don't dust fast enough. There's bone to cut through. Try it again."

[ooc: And back from lunch. Go us with being in sync. But not N'Sync because that's just wrong.]

"Charming," Cameron shrugged and trusting that Angel knew what he was doing he repeated the movement, this time not holding back. He was too absorbed to notice Jack watching them.

"Good," Angel said. He set up so Cam could try it again. "What're you going out with?" Angel added a look that made it clear euphamisms and code would be okay.

"I hadn't decided yet," Cameron said as he kept up with trying to behead Angel. "I talked to Sam about it and I think I'm going to stick with the classics. So..." He paused for a moment as his mind tried to come up with an adequate code. "Chocolates and flowers, like you said that girls like. And probably perfum in one of those squirty bottles?"

"Good idea," Angel said. He kept blocking Cameron which was good for his franchise but nodded to show he was doing it right. He added in another move to increase the difficulty now that Cam was getting the hang of this step. "Always better to go with what you feel comfortable with."

Re: Drills

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 07:55 pm (UTC)(link)
"That's what I thought," Cameron nodded, the new move threw him at first, but after a moment he managed to compensate for it. "Every time we've been out on a date, I've managed to bring the wrong gifts. With the first date, I just kept running out of... chocolates and running back to the store to get new ones really wasn't an option. So I finally switched over to giving her a flower, cause you can't run out on that." He really didn't know if Angel was following this at all. "Then the last date, the chocolates didn't taste like anything. The candle light dinner really was the best idea. I want to get this right."

Angel nodded grimly. "Hopefully we won't run out of supplies at the party on Friday."

"We won't, the 2nd floor never runs out of stuff." Cameron said. He concentrated on the drills for a while before he finally asked. "Why did you pick me for your study group?"

Re: Drills

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 08:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"It was my call to include you," Angel said. "If that turns out to have been a mistake, I want to be the one who bears the responsibility for that. You fail, I fail."

Angel gave a slight shrug at this to indicate he wasn't expecting Cam to fail him at all. Just that this was how he made the decision.

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 08:43 pm (UTC)(link)
"We won't fail," Cameron assured Angel and swung that much harder to prove his point. "So you already have plans when I came to you?"

Re: Drills

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 08:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack got sick of only catching words here and there, and butted in. "Party? You guys seem awfully grim about discussing a party."

Re: Drills

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 08:59 pm (UTC)(link)
"Yeah well, Logan's organising it." Cameron replied and hoped that his dislike for Logan would be enough to explain the mood.

Re: Drills

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 09:01 pm (UTC)(link)
"You know how I hate talking to people," Angel added, to explain his own mood. "Still. Logan. Could be fun."

Re: Drills

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 09:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Jack regarded both of them. He didn't want to push Cam, because any day that Jack and Cam weren't fighting was a good day. But there was something going on here. "Cool," Jack finally said outloud. "Now that Logan's stuck in the dorms with the rest of us, I suppose it was inevitable he'd throw a party. Anything I can do to pitch in?"

If it was just Logan throwing a party, Jack would eat his Lego collection. But he didn't have anything to call the other two on.

Re: Drills

[identity profile] notstakedyet.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 09:13 pm (UTC)(link)
"Spread the word?" Angel suggested. "I know he's hoping for a big blow out. Also this way I don't have to talk to people."

Re: Drills

[identity profile] cameronmitchell.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 09:15 pm (UTC)(link)
"And bring chips," Cameron added, because that was tastier than Lego.

Re: Drills

[identity profile] anextimeagent.livejournal.com 2006-01-31 09:20 pm (UTC)(link)
"Okay," Jack said. Possibly there was a note of dubiousness in his voice. Regardless, he didn't press. Instead, he made a mental note to chat up Vala the next time he saw her.

"Cool, 2nd floor parties rock." Cameron said conversationally and tried to do some more general moves that didn't seem like he was trying to behead Angel so much.
