Multi-Disciplinary Self Defense

Duncan has kendo staves and wooden swords.

"Okay, we'll drill a bit more with staves, but I wanted you to see what we're working toward. And that is, what a piece of wood can do against a blade." He grins fiercely.

"Anyone who knows their way around a sword willing to volunteer a bit?"

Just to start the OOC--I'm on AIM and will be tomorrow night too; sometimes for me it's easier to play things out over IM, so holler if you wanna.

Angel signed in.

Angel smirked. "I'd volunteer for sword but I'm leery of accidents with sharp wooden things."

"I'd like to work with Cam today if that's all right with you, sir," Angel said.

Han's here, with a doctor's note. He still looks pretty pale.

Jack signs in.

Jack hefts the stave and remembers the lesson in swordfighting Dr. Pierson gave him. He knew the five defensive positions. He hadn't learned offensive yet, but he worked through the defensive positions.

Ivanova signs in.

Ivanova got about halfway into the first form of the first drill when her body declared mutiny. Her knee led the rebellion with fierce cries of, 'Death to verticality!', and her shoulder joined in with the rather more simple chant of, 'Pain! Pain! Pain!'. She dropped the stave with a hiss. "Sir? Can I sit this one out?" she asked through gritted teeth.

Cameron signs in.

"It is by me," Cameron replied as he stepped up beside Angel.

Despite having been in the fencing club the previous semester and at his old school, for some reason Cameron had flunked. Maybe because he never showed up for meetings. He does pick up a sword and starts practicing.

Angel picked out a spot for them that was just a little bit away from the others. He lowered his voice so only Cam could hear. "Sword. For the neck. Don't worry about whether or not you hit me. Just get used to how quickly I can move if I need to."

Cameron raised an eyebrow because that was easier said than done. He really wasn't feeling up to chopping off Angel's head before Friday and considering he already managed to shoot Tex during the snow monsters attack...

"Alright," he said somewhat warily as he brought up is sword.

"We'll start slow," Angel promised. "Thing to remember is good odds they'll be young. Not a lot of experience. Any training is good training."

"I'm not going to argue with that," Cameron agreed and when he was sure Angel was ready, he made a straight forward swung for the neck. He might have been holding back, though.

Jack glances askance at Angel and Cam, wondering why they seem to be so intently discussing their drills. It made Jack suspicious.

Kara signs in.

Having missed last week, Kara picks up a stave and tries to get a feel for it.

Angel easily blocked him with the stave. "Harder. We don't dust fast enough. There's bone to cut through. Try it again."

[ooc: And back from lunch. Go us with being in sync. But not N'Sync because that's just wrong.]

"Charming," Cameron shrugged and trusting that Angel knew what he was doing he repeated the movement, this time not holding back. He was too absorbed to notice Jack watching them.
