Medical Post: The Gym

Susan, Zhaan, and others have numerous cots set up with dividers, and a table with their instruments in one corner of the gym. They are treated the injured and preparing for more casualties. After some quick and hasty introductions, they got ready for any incoming patients and hoped there wouldn't be any.


ETA: Post is closed to new play as of 11:22 EST. If you're injured, come into the clinic tomorrow-- the doctors are as fried as their players.

Shep limps in. He doesn't think he qualifies for the area marked off for major injuries. He's ambulatory... so it can't be that bad, right?

"Um... I hope I'm in the right place."

Elizabeth did not roll her eyes when she saw him come in. Really, she didn't.

"John," she greeted him, moving across with a blanket. "What have you done?"

At first he doesn't look up. He's not used to being called 'John' anymore, though he's pretty sure Elizabeth has no intentions of retraining her self to call him 'Shep.'

When he realizes that she is talking to him he shoots back. "Oh, It's all my fault I got bitten by a snow shark defending this freak-show of a school. And it's my fault that I ran out without my gloves and got frostbit riding on a snow shark's back..." He peters off. "Okay, that one may be my fault." He shrugs. "Just be glad that's the only place I have frostbite." He raises his eyebrows and hopes she doesn't ask for too many details.

Elizabeth has long learnt that it's best to not ask for too many details when it's concerning John Sheppard. She tossed the blanket around him. "Okay, take a seat. Is it just frostbite?"

"Frost bite on my hands." He lifts his left leg. It's still wrapped in it's ice cast. "Shark bite on my ankle." The cast is starting to drip all over the gym floor.

Elizabeth winced. "I have no clue about the shark bite," she admitted, glancing across at the crowd of medical staff gathered around Sam someone. "As for the frostbite..."

She headed across to the supplies, returning with a bowl of warm water. "Hands in here."

Shep puts his hands in the water. At first he doesn't feel anything, but when sensation starts to return, he lets out with a string of swears that would have done Barbosa or any other pirate proud. "Sadist," he finishes up with with an evil glare at Elizabeth.

She just smiled sweetly at him. "You're welcome," she said, before crouching down and frowning at the ice cast. "Um, how does this work?"

"Hell if I know. It was a happy accident with an ice-spewing maniacal snow... thing. Maybe use a hair dryer or something?" His hands were hurting like hell now.

Elizabeth bit her lip thoughtfully. "Well, I'm honestly not sure what can be done until it melts," she said. "Painkillers?"

"In bulk, if you don't mind." He looks down at the puddle next to his bed. It was bad enough that he was peeing on snow sharks, now it looked like he was peeing on the floor.

"I have ibuprofen," Elizabeth said. "Presumably all the good drugs are still in the clinic." She moved to get the small bottle, and a glass of water.

"Someone really needs to do something about that," Shep whined, but when she came back he downed the three tablets.

"In case you haven't noticed, we're lacking in the official school doctors," Elizabeth pointed out.

"Yeah, I noticed. I figured Dr. Wilson would be here telling me that he was going to name a wing of the clinic after me. Or assign me my own permenant bed. Do we know what's up with that?"

The ice cast was almost melted and Shep started picking at it.

She shook her head. "Nope. Not a clue. We're rather fortunate that the vice-principal and counsellor are actually doctors. If not," she shrugged. "It would have been just Janet."

Elizabeth smacked his fingers. "Don't pick at it."

Shep rolls his eyes at the mention of the vice-principal. The guy was going to think Shep was nothing but trouble if he saw him now. First that drunken discussion at the dance and now this. He hung his head.

"Why not? I want the damn thing off so you guys can patch me up and send me home."

"You need to keep your hands away from anything icy," Elizabeth pointed out. "Did you not get the frostbite lecture when you were assigned to Antartica?"

Shep rolled his eyes. "Only six or eight times." He puts his hands back in the bowl. "Here, give me a pen or something, I can use that." He's ignoring the fact that moving his hands hurts like a sonofabitch, because he'd really like to get the ice off his leg.

Lana pushes her way through the crowd of people, not really caring for once if she's rude. She looks frantically around her, going by group after group till she finally finds him.

"Shep! Are you okay? I was so worried when they said the monsters were gone, but you didn't come back!"

Shep rolled his eyes. It was sweet that Lana worried, really, but did she really expect him to get through a battle unscathed? He could barely brush his teeth without getting injured, especially if you listened to Doctor Wilson tell it.

He smiles indulgently at her. "I'm fine. Just a little chilly."

She tilts her head to one side to look at him. "This must be some strange new definition of the word fine that I'm not familiar with. Either that or I've found the wrong person. Though... it does appear that everything is still attached, so that's a step up."

She's trying to be light about it, but she's clearly pretty worried. After all, she's well aware of how much damage Shep can do to himself in the course of a normal day, much less a battle.

"I'll have you know that I've yet to lose anything vital that I'm going want back later." He raised his left hand out of the water. "See, even this is still here." He debates telling her where else he risked frostbite, but decided to wait until he was reasonably sure she'd find it at least a little funny.

"What, you going to hold it in your teeth or something? Because you're not to move your hands from that bowl," Elizabeth told him.

Shep's eyes got wide, before he cracked a grin. "Well, aren't you little Miss Bossy-pants all of a sudden." He began hitting the foot into the floor, trying to knock off some of the ice. "Come on, Elizabeth, seriously. This ice needs to go before I end up with frostbite on three out of five appendages."
