Medical Post: The Gym

Susan, Zhaan, and others have numerous cots set up with dividers, and a table with their instruments in one corner of the gym. They are treated the injured and preparing for more casualties. After some quick and hasty introductions, they got ready for any incoming patients and hoped there wouldn't be any.


ETA: Post is closed to new play as of 11:22 EST. If you're injured, come into the clinic tomorrow-- the doctors are as fried as their players.

Susan hurried over, looking concerned. "Sit down on the cot. What happened?" she asked them both, taking out a penlight.

"Snowman," muttered Anders. "Got thrown into a wall. Nothin' broken, don't think, but my head . . ."

Susan heard Professor Tick yelling for help, and quickly motioned Janet over. "All right, let Janet examine you, and *don't* go anywhere unless she says it's allright, okay?"

Janet came over, default icon penlight in hand. "Double vision, nausea, blurred vision?" she asked, guiding him to a cot. She checked his pupils.

OOC: How bad of a concussion do you want? Skull fracture? Bleeding?

"'s kinda blurry, nothin' double though. Stomach's a little wonky." Anders nodded as he eased himself down onto the cot, blinking dazedly, then made a move to get back to his feet. "But -- my girlfriend. I gotta find her, I gotta know if she's okay!"

[OOC: Minor skull fracture works for me -- he got thrown into a wall, so he's got a cracked rib or two, though he doesn't realize it yet.]

"Sit down," said Janet, moving to put a hand on his chest and hold him down. "I'll see if there's someone to notify about Cally, but you're in no shape to go anywhere right now." She shook her head. "You have a definite concussion, and possibly a minor skull fracture. You're not going anywhere."

OOC: Any skull fracture is going to be serious, I think, and probably not diagnosable now. Though I could theorize strongly that you have one and you can "have it checked out later."

"But --" protested Anders, wincing unexpectedly at the pressure of her hand on his chest and sitting back down on the cot, hard. Frak, I'm not gonna be a damn bit of good to her this way.

"Okay, okay." He rubbed a hand over his eyes and looked up at Janet, terrified. "Not goin' anywhere. Please, I just gotta know she made it."

[OOC: "Checked out later" works for me, unless it means he wouldn't be able to make it back up to his room later.]

"I'm sorry, Anders," says Janet. "And as soon as I hear anything, I'll let you know. I saw her with Lee earlier, she brought Parker in. Wait here. With a concussion, and in a situation like this, rest is all you can do right now--and don't go to sleep."

She went to go see if Kawalsky was still around to ask him to keep an eye on Cally.

OOC: I'd say severe concussion instead, then, would work best for you.

"So she's in the building, then." Anders let out a shaky breath. "That's somethin', at least. Don't think I c'n sleep right now anyway 'til I know for sure she's okay."

Burying his face in his hands, he tried desperately to calm himself down.

She'll be okay. She's a smart girl, she's tough, she can handle herself. She'll be fine. Right?

"I'll tell *Cally* you love her, but not Liz. If it gets the other way 'round, people are gonna get confused." He grinned. "Be back soon."

And with that, he headed out.

Hawkeye stopped by to check on Anders' vitals. Not that he knew who Anders was. But a patient was a patient, and most of them weren't patient. "Evening. Enjoying your stay here at Hawkeye's Happy House of Hijinks?"

"Not really." Anders had been fidgeting for several hours now, with no sign of Kawalsky bearing any news. "They said I got a concussion, and I think I mighta cracked something, 'cause my ribs hurt, but I gotta get outta here, Doc. Back to my room, or somethin'. It's too crazy here, 's not helping me stay calm."

"If you go back to your room, I can't keep an eye on you. What if you pass out? You might not wake up. You sure going back to your room is such a great idea?"

Anders sighs. "Is there a phone somewhere? I can call my girlfriend, see if she's home. She can keep an eye on me. But all this noise hurts my head, man."

Hawkeye nodded. "I'll see if I can get hold of a phone for you. In case I can't bring it here, what's her room number?"

"It's 555-TSTR (http://www.livejournal.com/users/sogothcally/1467.html)," Anders said, curling up a little tighter on the cot to keep himself from just jumping up and running off right that second. He immediately hissed in pain. "Ow, frak, my ribs."

"Just take it easy. Ribs are annoying things. They're right where they can poke you in the organs. Try not to irritate them too much or they might want revenge. I'll go and see what I can do."

"Thanks," said Anders again. Then, belatedly realizing Hawkeye had asked for the room number, he called out, "Oh, it's room 201!"

And winced. That hurt.

"She's okay, then." Anders exhaled sharply in relief, winced again at the pain in his ribs, and lay back on the cot. "Thanks, man."

Cally, after a short while, heads down and smiles sheepishly at Anders. Her eyes are definitely red from crying, her hair is a little mussed, and she's still all bundled up from the Echolls Excursion.

"Hi," she says, biting her lower lip.

"Coach!" Anders sits up abruptly, then -- "Ow. Ow ow frak!" He doubles over, clutching at his ribs for a second, then looks up at Cally with a hint of tears in his eyes.

"You're okay. You're here. Thank the Lords."

"Any time. The first sign of anything strange, like shortness of breath or if you feel like you're going to pass out, you get her to call me, understood? I'll come to you. Room 201?"
