Club Fair, the gym, Friday after classes

After leaving her classes, Jaye heads to the gym to start setting things up. To say she's disgruntled would be putting it mildly. She's practically datgruntled, too.

Lucky for her, Muppet chickens are easily bribeable, and they help shove tables into place and stick up signs for each one.

There are tables set up throughout the gym, each with a sign taped to the front with the name of the club. Student sponsors should probably be behind it if they want to sell their club. On each table is a clipboard to use when you sign up, but otherwise, you have all that space to put stuff on display or whatever.

Jaye sends the chickens to do their thing (and it's not her fault if a couple stick around to watch the show) takes a seat behind the table nearest to the door to do her thing. If you're rude, you might get thwapped with a clipboard.

[OOC: OCD THREADS COMING. Post now and I keel you. ARE UP.

All new clubs have a thread. Drop off a registration form with Jaye, and then go find your table and sell it.

All students have to either have a job or sign up for a club. Therefore, go find something. IF YOU DON'T SIGN UP, YOU ARE NOT CONSIDERED A MEMBER. So do so.]

Lana sets out brownies, cookies, M&Ms, bottles of water and some sodas before sitting down behind the table. She really hopes there are some people interested in signing up for the club.

"Hey, Lana," Angel said. He gave her a quick smile. If it didn't quite reach his eyes it was because on the whole he appeared distracted. "How's it going? Nice job on the food."

[ooc: will be afk soon, but online like an addict later]

Lana smiled, but she was a little too nervous for it to quite reach her eyes either. "Well, I'm here, I've got food... We'll see how it goes. Thanks for checking on me."

"We already know there's plenty of folks who come from freaky hometowns," Angel said. "Guess the only question is if they feel like talking about it. Or bragging."

"Yeah, sometimes I'm surprised I talk about it as much as I do. But it's strange to tell people that in some ways Fandom is a bit of a relief. I haven't been assaulted, abducted, or ended up in a hospital even *once* since I got here. It was starting to seem like a weekly thing, back home!"

"Tell me about it," Angel said. "Back home the world tried to end nearly every Tuesday. Here? There's some gremlins, but it's not so bad."

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 11:02 pm (UTC)(link)
"Well, and there were the zombies, but I missed those. And you know, I've never even seen a gremlin. Though the chickens are weirding me out a little."

Angel covered his face with his hand at the mention of the chickens. "I don't wanna talk about it."

Lana raised her eyebrows. "Which suggests that there's a really good story behind it. Lucky for you I'm not really the prying type." She grins at him. "Most of the time."

"Don't think that I don't appreciate it," Angel said.

Maia came over and grinned grabbing a brownie. "Hey Lana."

"Hey, Maia! Come to keep me company?" Lana looks a little nervous.

"Ok" Maia said breaking off a piece of the brownie and sitting next to Lana. "So what do we have here?" Maia reads off the flyer "Weird Hometown Support Group" She looked at Lana. "Interesting."

"It's something Angel and I got talking about. We're both from places that in their own way can be as odd as Fandom. And we thought it might be nice to have a club where we could share our experiences, commiserate a little, and also serve as a support to people who *aren't* from anywhere like here and are finding the weirdness a little too weird."

She shrugs. "I don't know how many people will be interested in it, but it sounded like a good idea. We're going to meet Mondays, probably at 6:30 or 7. Ms. Calendar agreed to be our faculty advisor."

Maia listened intrigued as Lana talked and then frowned. "Oh I'm from Seattle." She said softly "Not really weird."

[identity profile] lovelylana.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 10:35 pm (UTC)(link)
Lana laughed, "No offense, Maia, but the experiences you've had? Definitely qualify as weird. It may not exactly be your hometown, but you've certainly had experience with weird things and maybe could help some people."

Maia laughed and smiled "None taken. And yeah I think that would be fine. I'll sign up."

"We'd be glad to have you. And now I won't have to make you give back the brownie," Lana joked.

Xander glanced over the flyer and grinned. "I think I qualify. Though looking at the sign-in sheet, so far it's the Sunnydale and Smallville Club." He glanced at Maia. "Oops, you too, huh? Where's your Home Sweet Weird?"

Maia smiled "Seattle actually but Lana thinks I am just plain weird enough in and of myself to join." Maia giggled as she said this

[identity profile] maias-notebook.livejournal.com 2006-01-20 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Maia giggled "Indeed it does trump all." She held her hand out "Maia Rutledge, I don't believe we've ever really ever met though I've seen you around."

Xander shook her hand and grinned. "Xander Harris. You're in Magical Theory, right? I'm Ms. Calendar's TA for that - not that I've done anything to earn the title so far aside from load up on coffee in the Asssistants' Lounge."
