Josh sat at his desk eating a sandwich and flipping through the Washington Post as he waited for the members of the Student Council to arrive.

He pointed to the sign-in sheet when they arrived. "Welcome to the new incarnation of the Student Council. I know most of you, but for those I don't, I'm Josh Lyman. I teach history, government, and politics now, but up until a few weeks ago, I was the deputy chief of staff for the Bartlet Administration. I'm here to tell you that actual politics bears a shockingly close resemblance to Student Council work--the only difference is the national government has more funding and we spend less time worrying about school spirit and pep rallies."

Josh swung his feet onto his desk. "Because there are twelve of you representing the various classes here, I want you all to have an equal say--but we do need one person to be more equal than others. Someone who wants to be in charge. Someone who, and this is very important, isn't me."

He rubbed his hands through his hair. "First order of business, then: who wants to be President?"

Blair wasn't really sure what was going on but he pumped a fist in support of the message.

"Right on man!"

"Fight the establishment!"

"Kill the Gremlins!"

"What?!" Blair stood up quickly and pointed his finger at Marty. "That's so not cool man! You think it's right to wipe out the population of a creature you don't like? Just kill things because they happen to not be happy little creatures?"

"Uh... Fight the power?" Marty offers weakly

"Not if that's the way you're going to fight it, man. If all you're going to do is spew out the same hate rhetoric that the man does...then maybe you should be joining that power instead of fighting it." Blair pratically vibrated with anger.

"Love thy neighbor?" Marty says meekly.

"Gee that's a funny way you express love there. 'Kill the Gremlins' is love how?" Blair glared at Marty disdainfully.

"The way I express love? You didn't get a voice mail about ferrets did you?"

Blair nodded warily. "Yeah, a while ago, that was you?"

Marty sighs. "Okay... that was meant for my girl- uh someone else. Sorry. As for the gremlin thing? I've been bitten four times. Touchy issue with me."

Blair huffed. "Well I didn't think it was for me!" Blair sighed. "I don't like being angry, man. But it bugs me that you'd advocate killing something that's no worse than a cat. Nothing that the gremlins do is lasting, is it? Doesn't everything wear off in a day? It just seems rather harsh to kill them for something so harmless, you know?"

Marty's very glad Blair wasn't around last term for Gremlin baseball.

"It's not just the bite. They have been known to steal things and be generally destructive. Ask Anakin about his bantha bell sometime."

"Wow." Blair said flatly. "I didn't realize that we punished stealing with death nowadays. And 'generally destructive'? What does that entail that merits death? Because the students here have had a water fight and threw superballs down the stairs and done some pretty destructive things that I've seen." Blair crossed his arms and glared at Marty. "So should we all be calling for the death of students?"

"No, but then again I haven't been bitten by another student yet," Marty replied.

"Well... not in *that* way."

"But that's what Gremlins do!" Blair waved his hands emphatically.

"People pester and annoy and fight and hit and yell. Has anyone here done that to you?"

Marty rolls his eyes. "Listen... You're not Dian Fossey and this isn't Gremlins in the Mist. Gremlins are a menace. They're nasty and if it comes between me and them? I'm taking them down without a second thought. I can honestly say that I hate them ~~Though I love Monster! Mwah!~~ "

Blair groaned and shrugged. "Fine, man. I just hope that karma doesn't bite you in the ass for that statement."

Blair turned around and walked away mumbling, "us and them? Like he's fighting a war or something. Wimp can't even take a few bites."
