Yearbook meeting
Rory perches on the edge of a table in the cafeteria, and faces the people assembled there.
"Hey everyone. Thanks for coming. Now, we're going to conduct this meeting in an organized way, since there are so many of you.
First off, just so you know, meetings will be held at this time every Monday. If you have a scheduling conflict, please let me know.
I know quite a few of you have expressed interest in doing various things, but there are so many new people that I'm going to start a new staff list. So do me a favor and introduce yourself if we haven't met, and let me know what you're interested in doing.
To my photographers: I'd like to see a sample of your work, just for the sake of knowing what sort of features you'd be best at covering. [ooc: Just find a photo online or something. I don't care what it is - just PLEASE keep it clean!]
To my writers: I need you to know how to write thoughtful and classy captions. So, please write a statement about someone you see at this meeting as if you were briefly describing them to a stranger, so that I have a sample of your writing.
Those who are interested in layout exclusively: I need you to be people who are insanely organized. Please tell me the organizational system you use in your room, home, car, or whatever.
To those interested in becoming editors: Two editors of photography, two editors of captions, and two for layout. My layout editors especially need to be people who pay great attention to detail - you should be able to catch anything that the other four have missed. However, all of these positions are crucial, and require people who are willing to make a commitment. So, if you would, please fill out the following application:
Name:
Photography/Writing/Layout (circle one):
Previous Experience:
What I can bring to this editorial position:
Why you should be picked (cannot be the same as above):
Remember: everyone is welcome to participate in the yearbook, and if you don't know what you might be good at, I can help you find something. And, of course, feel free to ask me any questions you may have."
Rory concludes her speech, and smiles.

Photography/Writing/Layout (circle one):
Previous Experience: None that would count in this setting. Plenty in the margins of my books.
What I can bring to this editorial position: Gee. How about some honesty and humor. Two things many writers (no offense to anyone in this room) lack these days.
Why you should be picked (cannot be the same as above): I'm straightfoward. I cut through bullshit. I don't like to waste my time or anyone elses. I write what I know.
He scans the room and tries to choose someone to write about. The only one he wants to write about is Rory, but that would be too obvious. He decides to write two captions, but only turns one in.
Max Fischer, an overzealous overacheiver, attempts to win the yearbook editor over with an extensive vocabulary, but barely manages to keep her attention due to his pretentious attitude and arrogant airs.
And this one, he shoves into his pocket.
Rory Gilmore, startling beautiful editor of the school yearbook surveys her staff with keen blue eyes, taking in every detail though stray wisps of chocolate brown hair threaten to block her view. She quietly tucks the errant strands behind her ears as she smiles slgihtly at the ground as if remembering some private joke...
He just hopes the joke isn't him...

Pure Jess, she thinks, smiling slightly. She hasn't gotten any other applicants for the writing position, and while she does think that Jess would be absolutely perfect for it, she worries that the other students might cry favoritism.
But why would they do that? Jess and I are just old friends. That's all. No reason for me to favor him at all.
She grins at him. "This is good. I like your description of...." She lowers her voice and trails off as she nods slightly towards Max.
She caves, and decides to ignore what other people might think. "And...well, this isn't official, but...you've got it."
Rory knew deep down that Jess really did deserve the position...but she wondered if she was really giving it to him for that reason.
