The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

She doesn't have to do anything. She could just shrug and start talking about something else and let it go. Instead she asks, "How much does it take, exactly?"

John smiles slowly. "Good so far. A little more encouragement might be needed."

It is dark. And no one's really going to see them, so she dares to kiss him briefly. "Like that?"

He smiles and reaches for one of her hands. "Good start. Maybe one more?"

John slides a hand around her waist. "That was a good one. See, kissing in public isn't so bad."

Well, nothing happened because of it. Shifting slightly closer, she nods. "I like private better."

He pulls her a little closer. "I know you do. I do too. But, still," he says and kisses her cheek, "this isn't bad."

"Oh, I'm sure others don't like it but yours is for a different reason," he explains. "Here, it'd be more of an etiquette issue. With you, it's...something else."

"It's not a bad thing, babe," John soothes. "You like privacy. I do too. We can do more things behind closed doors. Sometimes though, I just like to be a guy and show off who I get to kiss."
