Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Party on, dudes! And welcome to Fandom High.

Pippi's loose hair whips around as they polka to Rock n Roll High School with reckless abandon.

"I think Zero's taking care of the singing this time. Besides, I don't know this one."

"That's too bad. Maybe next time."

Walter twirls Pippi past Pip and Chiana, who appear to be doing something quite other that polka-ing. That's okay - Pippi's great, but neither of them were really suited to the steps those two were using.

Pippi considered that if she and Walter danced like Pip and Chiana, Victor would be both angry at her and honor bound to clobber Walter due to their earlyer conversation (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fandomhigh/512650.html?thread=23882122#t23882122)."

Walter would never dream of making Pippi's skirt disappear. He's not that kinda guy on so many different levels.

Walter is, however, the kinda guy who would turn their polka into an absurd bastardized jitterbug just for the privelege of whipping Pippi around his waist.

Pippi thinks that waist whipping is exactly what a polka needs.

That's because it is exactly what a polka needs and Walter and Pippi will supply it in appropriate quantities for the situation.

He maneuvers them closer to Pip and Chiana and gives Pippi a spin timed to send her hair flying out into Pip's face. "Oops."

"Sooory!" Pippi calls to Pip as she and Walter spin around.

Walter chortles and spins her off across the floor. "He needed a bit more a challenge," he says as he lets Pippi take the lead.

Pippi takes the opportunity to show Walter some of the "advanced" ~~and completely made up, possibly dangerous and lame Jitterbug steps she learned from Pip during Blonds Are Dumb (So I Dye My Hair).~~

Walter scoffs at danger, seeks out danger, has breakfast with danger and has been known to have quiet intimate moments playing with danger's hair.

In other words, he has a blast, although the one throw that nearly has him hung in the rafters is momentarily surprising.

"Ah... Oops?" she says, catching him.

Walter lands easily and grabs her for a sharp spin, laughing giddily. "Just warn me before you do that. That was fun."

"I did mention the 'World's Strongest Girl' thing to you didn't I?"

"Yes, you did. I don't suppose I've ever told you about skydiving without a parachute?" Walter doesn't miss a beat, pulling her for one last go around the dance area before the song wraps up. "It's all in good fun."

"I've done that... But we were in a car at the time. It was great fun."

"A car? Brilliant! I've just done it by myself. And with my friend's coffin. Never in a car."

Pippi wrinkled her nose, puzzled. "How do you steer a coffin?"

"I can use the wires to change its orientation into the fall, and then I use wind resistance to steer it in the right direction. That's easy. It's the last hundred meters or so that are hard."

Pippi laughed.

"We managed to do something similer with a bed." she said, "But we got lucky, hit the side of a mountain and went down it like on a toboggan. That was a lot of fun."

"I did it with a fake coffin for a few times for training before trying it with my friend's coffin. It would have been very, very bad if I had hurt his coffin. But it was great fun.

"I've heard about something called bungee jumping. I think we should try it."

"I like the sound of it already. 'Bungeeeee'. What is it?"

"You tie an elastic to your ankle and jump from someplace high and bounce at the bottom like one of those paddle balls. Except you're not supposed to hit anything when you bounce back up. I must try it!"

"I think I saw boys doing that with vines in Urundi Burundi." she mused. "But sometimes they didn't make the vines short enough." She shakes her head. "Tragic."

"We're smarter than that. I like my head as it is and not like a crushed melon. Are you in? I think I have an idea for how we could bring it to the island, but I'll need to ask around."

"How many more times will it get us thrown into the locker?" Pippi asked laughing. "Of course I'm in. If I'm not a part of your shenanigans I'll have to come up with my own."
