Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Party on, dudes! And welcome to Fandom High.

"Well, it's possible I wasn't quite awake. But I'm pretty sure Aeryn and Kara Thrace were there." He paused with his cup of punch halfway to his mouth. "Though I guess I could've been dreaming about Aeryn and Kara. If I were, though, you'd think I'd have them doing something more interesting together than listening to gremlins sing."

Molly didn't dress up for the dance because no one told her she should, and she didn't have anything dressier than the clothes she wore everyday any way.

Bridge was the first person she noticed as she approached the punchbowl. He was talking to someone she recognized from Creature Lang. class, but she hadn't met him yet. She went over to say hi.

"Hey, Bridge. Nice outfit."

"Hat-Girl-Molly! Thanks!" Bridge chirped. "I know it's not like, a really formal dance or anything, but I figured it's still a worthy occassion!" He grins at Molly, "have you met Xander?"

Molly shook her head. "Nope." She turned to Xander. "I've seen you in class talking to Blair though."

"Professor Dream's class!" Xander said. "Yeah. Where apparently it's okay to talk about Twinkies - just not ferret sex."

Molly rolled her eyes. "That guy, Marty, really gets around, huh?"

Bridge giggles, "Yeah, I'm still not sure what was up with the whole ferret thing."

"Jake and I were trying to figure out what's so special about making out like ferrets when Professor Dream shut us down in class," Xander says. "Um, through discussion, not experimentation."

Molly snickered. "That class is pretty cool, but I'm wasn't too sure about talking to that spider yesterday." She made a face.

"You guys talked to a *spider*?" Bridge asks, a little disturbed.

"It was pretty friendly, actually," Xander answered. "Makes me feel kind of guilty about the spider-bits I'm pretty sure are in Jeremiah's food-sticks."

Molly made a face again. "I don't like bugs or spiders at all. I hope the next thing we get to talk to is something cool."

"Dude, you guys should totally talk to Earl!" Bridge bounces.

Xander looked - carefully - interested. "Should I ask who Earl is?"

"Oh! Callisto, Hamlet, Kawalsky and I found him wandering the forest last semester. He's a minature giraffe, and he lives with the music teacher now!"

Molly's eye's lit up. "A miniature giraffe? That is so cool! I'd love to talk to him."

"He is cool," Bridge says, totally trying not to say anything that could get misconstrued as a euphemism.

"How did I not know Professor Ted had a miniature giraffe?" Xander asked wonderingly. "I didn't actually believe his coolness factor could increase past Twinkie Provider level."

"Just, uh, don't ask Professor Ted about the thing with Descartes." Bridge advises Xander.

Xander raised an eyebrow. "Did it involve putting him before DesHorse?" he asked.

Bridge laughs at the joke, then explains: "There was a wedding. He wasn't invited- Professor Ted, I mean, 'cause it was Descartes' wedding. He's pretty emo about it, especially after teaching the guy how to fish and all."

Xander scrunched up his face, lips pursed so he looked kind of like a fish himself. Then when that apparently didn't please him, he made a different face, wrinkling his nose and forehead in an almost vampirelike way. Nope. He let it smoothe back to normal.

"I'm... trying to picture Ted being emo, but I can't," he said sadly. "I lose at emo."

"Yeah. It doesn't happen too often. About as often as *I* get emo, really. I try not to think about it, because it scares me."

"I wonder if they've got some kind of vaccine for it at the clinic?" Xander said thoughtfully. "I'm not big on needles, but to avoid the emo? I'd be dropping my pants in a heartbeat."

"I could totally go for that." Bridge says, "but I'm pretty good at being anti-emo just by myself!" he adds with a grin.
