Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Jack sighs. "Okay. But the tux is only for ballet and New Year's Eve." He takes a sip of punch and chokes on Parker's second question. "Um, say? I... actually didn't tell her."

"No, no tux. Just a decent outfit, not jeans." She bumped him with her shoulder. "You've gotta give the New Yorkers something to *look* at." Then her eyes widened. "You didn't tell her? Why? I was worried she was going to be all 'my baby, no, you can't go' after what happened Tuesday. Is that why you didn't tell her?"

Jack hunches his shoulders. "Actually, I don't know if she knows what happened Tuesday. I'd guess not, since she hasn't shown up to yell at me for being stupid."

"You dink," Parker said in exasperation. "Honestly, I know you don't want to worry her, but Jesus, isn't that taking it a bit far? She's not that fragile, she's practically recovered from the surgery."

She thwapped him without force and shook her head. "No, but it's silly as hell when you've just been through a scare anyway." Parker made a face. "Fine. You want to walk with me to the station in an hour and a half, so we can get to New York (http://www.livejournal.com/community/fh_trips/797.html#comments) with the others? We can grab out bags on the way out."
