Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

"Pretty well. Probably not as well as you've been doing though." Chloe breaks into a grin as she lowers her voice a little. "I heard the announcement - am I allowed to know what you were doing in the pool that got you detention?"

Lana rolls her eyes. "I am never going to live this down, am I? We went down to the pool for a swim and next thing I know we've all decided to go skinny-dipping. I'm still not quite certain how that happened."

She smiles. "It was fun. But nothing actually *happened*, though it might have if Maia and Sawyer hadn't gotten called to the Deans."

Chloe eyes widen at Lana. "Wow. I am officially impressed. Skinny dipping? I don't know if I could be that brave. I'm sorry you're getting a detention for it. That sucks big time."

"Like I said, I don't know quite how I got sucked into that. I'm blaming it on Shep and Han. I swear the two of them could talk the back legs off a mule!" She shakes her head ruefully. "And yeah, detention sucks, but at least this time I actually *did* something that got me detention rather than just dropping a class."

"So, how are things going for you? I didn't see you when I was home over Christmas."

"And at least you won't be alone in detention. You'll have everyone else with you, and that's a plus."

Chloe gets a little red and grins deeply when she thinks about Christmas. "Things are going well. I'm working on getting the paper started up again this semester, so that should take care of any boredom I might have."

Lana grins back. "Now, that's an interesting color you just turned," she says teasingly. "Must have been a fun Christmas. And somehow, I don't think you'll have any trouble getting the paper going again, Star Reporter!"

"Yes, it was a very good Christmas. Jake and Krycek came to visit." Chloe smirked. "I'm hoping that the new Journalism students will give me something good to work with."

Lana raises her eyebrows. "Oh really? You three must have had a particularly good visit." She grins at Chloe. "Maybe I'm not the only Smallville girl who'd get a lot of raised eyebrows if people back home found out what she was up to."

Lana laughs as well, "Can't you just hear them whispering, 'those two seemed like such *nice* girls before, who ever would have thought they'd end up like this?'"
