Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Pippi leans over as Archie approaches the punch bowl.

"Nice coat." she says.

Archie smiles and offers Pippi a small bow. "Thank you! Archie Kennedy -- I don't believe I've made the pleasure of your acquaintance."

Pippi is partial to people that smell like the sea, in a good way, being one herself. She curtsies in return.

"Pippi Longstocking." she says, "The pleasure is all mine.", she said as she heard fine ladies saying such to fine gentlemen in the past.

"I just wanted to show a little maritime solidarity. I noticed your posters around the dorm. Good luck with the elections." she smiles, she pretty much always smiles.

Archie laughs in surprise, delighted to meet another seafaring person. "A pleasure to meet you, Pippi, and thank you! I see you're also running for Student Council?"

"Yes, I wasn't at first. But you all seemed to be having so much fun with the posters! Plus, I've wanted to be a Captain like my Papa since I was little so a position of responsibility seemed like the thing to peruse. What made you decide to run?"

"Professor the Tick, actually," replies Archie, smiling. "He convinced me I might have something to contribute to the school that way. It was also his love of quirky hats that influenced the poster, I must add."

He pauses and leans in a bit, interested. "Your Papa is a Captain, you say?"

"Well it is a very authoritative hat." she says.

"Yes, Captain Efram Longstocking. He was named after his Grandpa, who's slightly less authoritative, but no less stylish hat I am currently sporting."
