Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

"Please, call me Hawkeye. I'm sorry I haven't dropped by sooner. The amount of paperwork in this place is ridiculous on so many levels. So tell me, Dean, where are you from? What do you make of.." He waved his hand at the crowd. "All of this?"

"If you want me to call you Hawkeye, then you'd better call me Zoe. Informality goes both ways," Zoe said. "As for all of this, it isn't terribly different from the parties teenagers have where I'm from, although the dress code here is certainly more...lenient."

"Zoe it is. The dress code here is eclectic, I'll grant them that. I suppose that's what you get when you throw a group of people together from all over space and time."

"I will say one thing - it seems as though no matter where you pull people from, they all have the same hormones. That's delightfully helpful, I think."

"Ahhh, hormones. They're delightful things. They're what make living beings predictable and unpredictable both at the same time. Hormones can make the individual do things completely out of character or out of logic and reason. At the same time, if you can figure out how hormones affect a person, you can work out how they tick and how they'll react in any given situation. Not bad for a 89 cents worth of chemicals."
