Welcome Dance - the Gym

The streamers and banners are up. So are a zillion multi-colored helium balloons.

The floor is cleared, and the bandstand is up at the north side of the room, ready for Dusted Bunnies to take their places.

The refreshment table, with the (as yet) unspiked punch is in place. There are chips and stuff as well, Chex mix, a few nachos and some guacamole.

Party on, dudes! And welcome to Fandom High.

"I am indeed sir!" Pip says, mirror the Tick's speech pattern without even meaning to. Only he's doing it with a French accent. "I hope you don't mind me asking, but my friend was telling me that you are a super hero, and I was wondering what super powers you had. Ya know, to defend Justice with."

"Not a problem, lad!" Tick said. "I'm super-strong and nigh-invulnerable. Two truly keen powers, really."

"I'm just curious, who was this friend?"

"Excellent powers!" Pip responds. "One was Cameron Mitchell. I'm afraid I cannot remember for the life of me who the other was, but I want to say Angela." He takes a drag off of his cigarette. "So, what do you teach, Professor Tick?"

"Should you be smoking in here?" Tick asked.

"I teach Criminal Justice! I felt it was appropriate since I'm a superhero."

"Am I not allowed?" Pip asks. "'Cause I can put it out if it's a problem."

"Ahh, I've heard of that class! All very good things! They tell me that you, Professor, are the Master of the Metaphor!"

"I don't know about the actual Gym rules, but I suspect it's at least discouraged," Tick said.

"I appreciate the praise, chum, but I wouldn't call myself the Master. On the Everest of Metaphors, I am a mere climber striving to maybe, someday, reach the top. Helping me? The sherpas called Language, Inspiration, and perhaps even Wackiness. So nay, I am no master. But someday, perhaps my flag will be planted on the peak of Mount Metaphor!"

Pip nods and slips the cigarette away with a quick flourish.

Pip is, quite frankly, in awe. He has never heard such metaphors before. "If you are not a Master, Professor, you must be damn high up the mountain. At least the Second Base Camp of the Everest of Metaphors, where you have begun the third assault to the Tip of Master-dom-ness."

"I see that you're not a metaphor novice, yourself," Tick said, impressed. "You seem to have at least done a tour of the Metaphorical Alps, chum! Well done!"

"Well, I've done one or two Tours of Learning," Pip responds. "Perhaps, one day, you might dein to teach a humble student in the masterful art? Perhaps share a few secrets of comparison?"

Re: Chaperone - The Tick

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 03:42 am (UTC)(link)
"Perhaps I could, lad," Tick nodded. "If you sign up for my class in the Fall, I can promise you that you'll get training in both Metaphor and Justice."

Pip grins. "What class is it? Introductory Justice?" He looks around secretively. "Think you could, perhaps, save a seat for me?"

Re: Chaperone - The Tick

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:01 am (UTC)(link)
"Criminal Justice, chum! And I can't save seats, unfortunately. But I will see if I can't get more underclassmen in class next year. I have to be fair, after all!"

Re: Chaperone - The Tick

[identity profile] cyclopeanmerc.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:15 am (UTC)(link)
"Ahh, that's too bad," Pip says, genuinely disappointed. "But yes, a Professor of Justice should be fair. To not be would cause him to be cloaked in a Stench of Hypocrisy."

Re: Chaperone - The Tick

[identity profile] bugofjustice.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:18 am (UTC)(link)
"Indeed not. And a Colonge of Righteousness is merely a smokescreen, blinding the nose's eyes. It's just a cover. It's a Natural Musk of Justice or nothing!"

Re: Chaperone - The Tick

[identity profile] cyclopeanmerc.livejournal.com 2006-01-14 04:21 am (UTC)(link)
Pip nods. "I myself am not a man for colognes. They are merely Smokescreens of Deciet, clouding the True Musk of a Person's Soul. I do not hold with them!"

[[OOC: How much time you got? I can trade metaphors all night!]]

"I can tell that you'll be a fine addition to my class one day, chum!" Tick said.

[OOC: I should probably cut this off just about now. I'm tired, bouncing around with another character, and plotting stuff out in three places. Extended metaphors may be the death of me. But it's been fun!]
